I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.” Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word. On the menu: eggplant, tomato and onion antipasto; spiced lamb’s tongue antipasto; I had linguini al pesto. Joe enjoyed spaghetti alla puttanesca, which both Brooke and I wondered had any relation to “Putana”, and yes, it does; both the Master and the Snark had gnocchi alla bolognese, and seemed quite satisfied with it - it was all I could do to keep the pair from licking their plates clean. (Naw… not really, but it’s fun to imagine!)
The interview went well, despite the fact that my computer bag was stolen in the middle of it, but later that night I got a call from the security office at the Javits Center telling me it had been found - with my Pib books still inside. The thieves were probably disgusted that there was nothing of value (hah! if they only knew!) inside. New York is a crazy town, and that’s a fact.
The sound was not great where we were. I’m going to have to do some serious noise reduction and audio enhancement, and the interview may come with subtitles and/or a transcript. But we’ll give you the best product we’re capable of.
Teaser: The character in yesterday’s Chickweed is not Brooke himself. He has, however, drawn The Snark in a very obvious location in the past.
ccdesan says the Master has drawn the Snark in a very obvious location in the past.
That gives us about 9 years of 9CWL and 7 of Pibgorn to work our way through while he snerks to himself…. Pretty please, give us a break?

9CWL:
There are few pieces of music on the planet more beautiful and lush than the Elgar Cello Concerto. If you do not know it, I cannot recommend it enough. What a fabulous choice!
One interpretation says that Elgar wrote it in 1919 as “a lament for the lost world of Europe”.
If anyone who’d like to know more about Jacqeline Du Pre, I do recommend checking out the film,”Hilary and Jackie” - the story of the two du Pre sisters. It casts a rather controversial eye on du Pre’s private life, marriage to Barenboim and her illness. It was based on the memoir by du Pre’s brother and sister, and it hasn’t been released in France to avoid a lawsuit by Barenboim.
For those who would like to own the music, Amazon dot com sells the Concerto in MP3 format downloads, asking 99c for each of the four movements. Jacqueline du Pre and Barenboim are the performing artists.
I can’t quite decide if that bottom center triangle is panel #2 or #3. I think it’s panel #3, since a clockwise progression is something Brooke does on quite a few occasions.
If so, then I suspect that Dru is damping the effects of the steam explosion so that her cleaning does not wipe out the Eastern seaboard.
In these last few installments (go back to Dru breaking from he|| into the bottom of the ocean), I’ve been really struck by the colors. Each panel has been very rich, and there have been some strong contrasts between panels that make the overall strip balanced.
Quite clever and very difficult.

Is this possible? Can Hell itself be completely overrun by the rip in the ceiling/ocean floor that Dru just opened up? If this is where this particularly story arc is going, I’d say we’re looking at a McEldowney rewrite of the Book of Revelation, with the ending of Hell, more or less.
Either that, or there are going to be a lot of high ranking demons, Satan himself if he has a place in this story, who are going to be very ticked off at Dru.
Starting to wonder if we’re going to see a coincidence of story arcs between Pibgorn and 9CWL – I’m banking on Roger finding that other Satori in the everyday world at just about the time Amos and Edda get married. You know how that works – the saying goes that everyone has their twin somewhere. I’m from New Jersey, have lived in Illinois for thirty years, but I’ve been told many times by people that they know so and so who has to be a brother to me because of the “family resemblance.”

A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.
