If you would like to
‘favorite’ the strip,
(and maybe the sketch, too), simply log in and click on the ‘Favorite’ star directly above the strip. Mr. McEldowney very kindly asked for us what purpose is served by favoriting, and this was the answer:
I asked my editor at Gocomics about the purpose of “favoriting” a strip. Her answer was this: “‘Favoriting’ allows people following you to see what comics you like. ‘Favorited’ comics also show up under your profile, and allow us to see what comics people are enjoying.”
Basically, I think it provides a method for spreading the word.

Tom-tossin’ Dru is one fine looking athlete. Great form! (ahem)

Dru, that’s a very good rule to have…given the circumstances, that is.
emjrn said, 10 months ago
Lets hope he doesn’t have Dru’s ability to dive into lava and come out refreshed.
I really want to see Tom T “unrefreshed”(if there is such a word) ;-)

I’m sorry ladies and gentlemen. This show has been cancelled due to popular demand.

Minor differences in hair and one arm position - not enough to make a flicker pic tonight.
For those complaining they wanted more action (violence) - this is only Thursday. Brooke has to come up with a cliff-hanger for tomorrow.

“Here she come to save the day”
“That means that Drusilla is on her way.
Yes sir, when there is a wrong to right
Drusilla will join the fight.
On the sea or on the land,
She gets the situation well in hand”.

I think panel 2 is blurry because the focus is on Tom and Dru.

Repost from yesterday
margueritem-I also thank you for the recipe.
.
Before Mozart arc Brooke took some time for research and did archive stuff.
.
There are 2 programs “Squirrel Wars” I & II on PBS showing their ingenuity. There is a powder to mix with the bird food that discourages them some. You can use cayenne pepper or mix cayenne with water and spray it on. The birds don’t taste it but the squirrels do.

I bet we have to wait till next week, at least Monday, to see how Pib is doing.

Dru still comes on as a flinty hardbody. That’s quite the scenery in panel 1.
So, Luc’s back to normal, Inky’s a flyspeck, Tom takes a lava bath, I suppose tomorrow we’ll see the deliverance of Pib. After that, we still have a lot of things to learn about Roger and Lena, after whom this entire arc is named. At least, I soit’ny hope so!

fearciuil says:
“I’m curious about that shape in the background of Panel 2 of the sketch … I can’t quite decide if it disappeared from the finished work, or if it’s just obscured by the … uh … steam? Smoke? Sulfurous vapors?”
I think it’s still there - It’s the line delineating the lower, darker behind-the-fumes background from the upper, lighter BTF background area.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS: Brooke often draws in details that won’t come through in the finish in order to get everything right - like the outline of Dru’s head in both today and yesterday’s sketches, which yesterday’s backlighting and Dru’s hair today effectvely hide in the finishes; and i like the suggestion that it’s the non-grassy knoll from which she is springing upon Tom, drawn in the sketch t aid in making the composition easier to work out.

This appears to be a real eye-opener for TT.. (Smile! YOU’RE on Candled Camera)
Sisyphos said, 10 months ago
fearciuil: well, yesterday, and in panel 1, Dru poses on a height of some sort (hillock? crater rim?). In panel 2 she springs from it to attack TomT–so I guess what you see in sketch panel 2 is the contour of said hillock, obscured (as you said or implied) in the finished art….
fear-ciuil said, 10 months ago
Also posted this to the sketch:

@Fearc: I’m guessing Brooke originally planned for a rocky outcropping behind Dru, and then opted for stygian fumes.

Evidently someone updated the Wikipedia article on Tomás de Torquemada to include Pibgorn:

He evidently isn’t the absolute monster we all regard him to be. Fascinating read!

Brooke is getting really, REALLY good with his lightsourcing on Dru. Seems like every time I think he couldn’t make it look any better, he tops himself again.
Chuck Clay said, 10 months ago
I still think TT’s teeth would make a pretty good addition to Dru’s orbital collection.. but perhaps he’ll just get to hang at broiling range off the lava over the weekend - HIS cliffhanger - to tenderize him for further processing by Dru.

Speaking, as were briefly were, of Out There, Sherry’s double-take in today’s strip {http://www.outtherecomic.com/d/20090129.html} is prideless.

Or as a line I stole for one of my fantasy game characters went…
“I’ve come to take you in. Please, don’t come quietly.”

Is that a typo? Intriguing…
I must say, Dru’s right arm looks rather elongated in panel 3. All the better to make like Nolan Ryan.
