I knew Sister Steven (Caligula) had it in her to be happy and celebrate for Amos and Edda!

Friend of mine - Hoakie Hickel, who used to play bass in a butt-kickin’ cowpunk bar band called Dash Rip Rock - the kind of bar band who play gigs all over the world - wrote a pounding little instrumental they used to open their shows with called He||’s Scared…
“fairportfan: Not the Dash Rip Rock? I thought only modern stoneage cavemen listened to them!”
Actually, they named the band after a character in The Beverley Hillbillies; when they started out at University of Louisville (about 1984 or so - Bill got a Masters in Communication about the time the band was starting, with a thesis about the negative effects on teenagers of MTV), Donna Douglas was living somewhere in the area, and they thought that the Hillbillies reference was amusing.
It never ever surprises me at how smart all of you who write in are. I guess I’m just not in tune with all the goings on with this toon. I enjoy the toon but don’t understand it much. The colors are very pretty though. Sometimes I wish I knew what was up. I’m impressed by all of you.
Maybe Luciano can use that special method that special method that flies have for eating- spewing out digestive fluid from their proboscis and then vacuuming it back up- and do that to dear Tom Torquewrenchemada. That would be fitting.
9CWL: I love Sister Steven. She reminds me a lot of the Mother Superior from The Sound of Music. She lives her faith… for herself. She admonishes her flock according to the dictates of her conscience. She understands that everyone is not cut from the same cloth. And she leaves judgment in the hands of Him to whom it is given.

I had to look at that image long and hard today… the empty windows, the hellish lighting in the sky behind the buildings - it almost looks like she’s being disgorged into an abandoned city, just another corner of Hell.
If that’s all just artistic license, and she’s really been blown back into “the real world”, then I’ll never look at a manhole cover the same way again…
This is a great strip but the last one I’ll be reading. I’m sick of coming in day in and day out and getting it crammed down my throat to

We get it, your passionate about the strip. But guess what, you just chased away someone who would have done just that.
Finder, you are letting a little thing get too big in your mind. The boilerplate just becomes part of the scenery to be honest - if one doesn’t allow it to become something it is not.
The information available to new comers is invaluable. (Have you ever asked yourself how many times these people who post every day have answered the same question over and over again - patiently?) chuckle That alone deserves a pause for the cause in your obvious irritation.
C’mon - have a nice cuppa something hot and enjoy the prettiest thing the sewers have ever spewed out. You’ll be sliding past that boilerplate and forgetting it is there before you know it.
Hi Susie, and welcome to the informal yet dedicated fan club of a man who ranks with Al Capp as one of the finest cartoonists/ artists/ writers/ storytellers ever.
I’m fairly new myself, but I’d strongly suggest going way back for some flavor of the strip’s origins.
Mr. McE also has two paperbacks for sale.
Additionally, see FEARCIUIL’s links? CCDESAN has composed a wonderful PIBGORN page which will bring you to speed on the Canon, I highly recommend that you check it out.

And haven’t you all been having fun this past weekend…it took me forever to read through the 7 pages of comments. So many fun -and funny- side trips to explore! I really wished I could be there in real time. However, the school filters don’t allow it (I can just see asking: please Mr. Übergeek Controlfreak Computerczar, would you please unlock the GC Pibgorn site so I can get my fix during the school day-yeah, right)and we were having connectivity problems with the lap top and the desktop needed to have its teeny-tiny little circuits adjusted, soooooo…
At any rate, I’m back. And before I head off to torment small children, I’ve left some goodies for the civil couch of confusion denizens (Hey, does that make us civilians or merely civilized?).
The coffee urn of French Roast is on the right, French Roast flavored with orange, cinnamon, and vanilla is on the left, and the urn in the middle has hot water for tea (selections in the blue bowl on the buffet). For your delectation…bagels (assorted)lox, cream cheese, cornichons, sweet onions. Also butter, seedless black raspberry jam, strawberry preserves, and orange marmelade. Scrambled eggs with chives and sausages are on the hot tray, don’t for get to put the covers back so they stay warm. OJ, tomato juice, and apricot nectar.
Seems like it’s going nowhere, which is a pity, because this was a fantastic story up through the climatic confrontation in the castle five months ago. Since then, I hate to say, it really seems to have lost its focus.
A fantastic saga of adventure both high and low, of forbidden passion and iambic pentameter, of fays, fools, organists, demons, accordions, heaven, hell and Shakespeare, Pibgorn follows the whims and flights of its eponymous fairy heroine as she plies her conviction that there must be more to life than depositing dew drops on dandelions and sleeping under mushrooms.
