OK, now Dru and Pib are in the same locale. When those two sweeties are within sight of each other, they can do mondo damage to people who least expect it.

They may have fatal flaws, but Pib + Dru in tandem is a combo that’s hard to beat. Let’s see how B McE pulls this off now.

I’m afraid Pib may end up with a few owies before this round of Hell is over. Poor Pib… sometimes I wonder if she ever regrets giving up her former job as dewdrop-lugger. But all will be well in the end, Tom will receive another ghastly come-uppance, and hopefully we still have much to learn about Roger and Lena… after all, the little hellion is the one this episode is named for!

Tangentially related to Chickweed, I had lunch today with two cousins, one of them a classical violinist whose ignominious claim to fame was having the Duke of Alcantara Stradivarius stolen from his car. We discussed Chickweed and Hilary Hahn, whose work he also praised and of whom he declared that he was frightfully jealous because she had been able to score a Stradivarius of her own. He was interested in looking at Hilary’s website where she links to the current story arc.

Here’s a thought: let’s (somehow) turn the tables (don’t have all the details worked out yet). String up Tom in the tree; let Pib slap him around a bit first, then let Dru use him for plasma-blast target practice! Sound like a plan?

    Oh no, not again!

Why is Pib always the one who gets tortured? And usually as a casualty of Drusilla’s fight, not her own.

In this case, isn’t it enough that she spent most of story arc bound in Spitcock’s lab and getting sliced by Satori?

Does Mr. McEldowny get a kick out of drawing the pure and innocent in pain? This is getting old.

Well, just as with Wonder Woman, which was created by a psychiatrist, and exploited a lot of fetishistic and bondage tropes, Pibgorn has always tended that way - whether she finds her own trouble - getting two death sentences from Prince Crewth for flying after Solstice and lese majeste, for instance, or grabbed by a bridge-troll, or snatched by the Man in Black and his crew - or gets into Dru’s - the Borgia Cantus adventure was at least as much Pib’s fault as Dru’s, but it was Dru’s book, and the Tragedy of Henmellyn was the workings-out of a literally diabolical 400-year-old plot aganst Dru - or they both get snatched into someone else’s machinations - the current story arc - one can be pretty sure that Pib or Dru (or more likely both) is gong to spend some time tied up, menaced and/or tortured… (Not so graphically as Sweet Gwendoline {http://tinyurl.com/7oyx79}, but…)

And that’s the way it goes.

One of the webcomics i read regularly is Punch an’ Pie, the adventures (mostly) of Angela, a small but energy-packed twenty-something (with a highly active Bad Idea gland at times).

Angela has recently been hired as manager of a new chain toy store opening in a local mall. (She worked in one of the same chain that was closed some time back, and was recommended for this job by her former manager.)

Obviously, Angel has Strong Ideas about how a toy store should be run, as portrayed in the latest strip: http://www.punchanpie.net/cgi-bin/autokeenlite.cgi?date=20090105

    Sisyphos says:

Is it time now for all the art historians (pro or amateur) to begin linking to versions of the martyrdom of St. Sebastian?

Here is a comment I posted yesterday re: St. Seb.

Sebastian was martyred by being tied to a tree and then being shot with arrows by Roman soldiers. His ability to ”Let Go” and hear God’s voice kept him alive during this ordeal. Imagine, when the first arrow struck into his chest, Saint Sebastian looked down at the wound and then raised his eyes towards the heavens and said ”ooo, that tickles.”
This of course made the soldiers scratch their heads in wonder. The on-lookers went AHHHHH, WOW! (Martyrdom was a spectator sport back in the day).

The next round of arrows were cast and still Saint Sebastian smiled and spoke the word of God. The soldiers are looking pretty darn stupid at this point; and we all know that soldiers do not like to look bad. Now, if you were sitting on the fence as to convert and bring a new religion into your home, and had any doubts as to it’s power, this may sway those who were still leaving their offerings at the Temple of Vesta. There may be a larger number of folks at mass on Sunday.

The soldiers were finally given the order to behead Sebastian. This way God could no longer aid poor Seb.

Here is a detail by Andrea Mantegna of St. Sebastian

    http://docentes.uacj.mx/fgomez/museoglobal/photogallery/M/mantegna/mantegna%20san%20sebastian.JPG

He was often depicted in the Renaissance tied to a Roman column but the myth is that he was tied to a tree and that after his death the tree which was barren produce fruit and healed the sick.

So, is Pib being tied up (once again) to a tree to be riddled with arrows? OR is this a miraculous tree that will heal wounds both physically and emotionally (broken heart) of Dru?

    Where is Luciano?

I’m with everyone who wants Tom T tied to the tree to be tar and feathered or flayed alive. Maybe both!

Hope everyone on the couch is healthy, happy and warm.

I’m leaving a tray of chicken tamales with some fresh salsa on the table. I also procured a couple of blankets that have hand stitched flower designs on them. They are typical southern Mexico motifs and colors; dark blues, deep pinks, reds and yellows.

CC, Hope the cat scan went well for your mom.

Scoundrel, Wishing you and your wife a peaceful healthy day.

Poms, How about sharing one of those salads we had for dinner as lunch today? Hope all is going well with you.

TX, You are number one on my list often ; ) Meet you at the hot tub after class.
