What happened to Inky’s cut marks from Satori’s blade?

And why is Inky looking at Satori like he looked at Dru???

If he tries to “merge” with Satori, will that drain the rest of his stored Mojo?

Questions, questions! Where are the answers?!

Not at all what we had hoped for. Any guesses as to what his next move will be? Perhaps he’ll still step on Lena’s hoe, and knock himself out.

and that Spinky’s hair gets bushier and bushier… maybe he’s getting younger and younger and will eventually be a baby demon… goo, goo, ZAP….

If he follows through from that last pain, he may get a bad taste in his mouth, depending on what else Roger has been able to program…

Will have to catch up with the comments tomorrow. Have had lots of people in with a rather nasty gastro-intestinal bug, and unfortunately, I think they may have shared with me.

I may be talking with “Ralph on the porcelin phone” for a while.

Already almost 1:30… I’ve GOT to get more sleep. (The practical side of me is hoping the next storylines won’t be so exciting so I can get to bed earlier without feeling like I’m missing things.)

See y’all from the corner of the couch later!!

OOooo… a thought, then I’m really gone… what if Roger is programming Satori to be able to assimilate powers when they hit her, like Dru… Won’t Spinky be surprised.

  13. txmystic

    txmysticGenius_badge said, 11 months ago

well, this is just getting weird. Did roger reprogram this thing or not?? And Spincucock till has the ability to self-heal without regenerating…

Now, the last frame is quite telling…if he is able to feed off Satori, is she perhaps real after all? I mean, he says he programmed her to kill for him, but that doesn’t make her a program, does it?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm………

I think this calls for a return to ye olde Absinthe. With lemonade, this time…

Well, well, well, what is Roger going to do now, especially with that lecherous grin that Inky is giving Satori in the last panel!

  15. Sisyphos

    Sisyphos said, 11 months ago

The six gaping wounds in Satori, in a gallows humor vein, put me in mind of Fearless Fosdick, L’il Abner’s hero, who often looked like Swiss cheese but always snapped back. So should our Satori, somehow!

  16. Sisyphos

    Sisyphos said, 11 months ago

Artistically, it may be better left to our imaginations, but seeing that it brought a tear to Seth’s eye, I really am wondering now, what is the magical music piece that Edda and Amos are playing? Is it a selection from the Romantics?

  17. CaptainNerd

I notice his face is more human when he tells Satori that he’s her Suzerain. Probably doesn’t mean anything…

The general concensus in the comments over at comics.com is that people woud favour a particular Rachmaninoff concerto for piano and cello. (Can’t recall what beyond that, though.)

  22. Sisyphos

    Sisyphos said, 11 months ago

Inky, it seems to me, is speaking recklessly in asserting that he *is* Satori’s Suzerain, for he is still speaking as the Programmer, whereas now he is in, and is part of, the VR and bound by its rules and programming, too. He will be less necrophiliac when Satori “undies” and rejoins (with some of the other Good Guys?) in putting him DOWN.

    9CWL: Aw¹⁰⁰! (A GoogolAw) sniff

Aha, aha. Spinky is the suzerain. I should have seen that one coming, after his boring exultation over Roger. And now Roger has overridden her directive. Interesting plot twist.

As emjrn said, “Questions, question.” I wonder if Mr. McE intends to keep this arc running for 20 more days, and use January 1 as the start of a new arc, or if this one will spill over into 2009? I know there are a few folks who are wishing for a new story, but I’m not tired yet. Still, I have a hard time believing Satori’s been going for 1¾ years!

Well, no matter what happens to Satori, Inky just used some of his mojo. Guess who’s powering the game, now?
I’ve tried to write this ten different ways, and it doesn’t sound right, so I’ll just say it plainly: I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Diggory Spitcock.

    Maybe this will help;

    • White Roger(White Rabbit-Jefferson Airplane)

    One kiss makes you larger
And one kiss makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
    Don’t do anything at all
    Go ask Pibby
    When she’s ten feet tall

And if you go chasing demons
And you know you’re going to fall
Tell ‘em a garbage eating housefly
    Has given you the call
    Recall Pibby
    When she was just small

    When men on the minotaur
Get up and tell you where to go
And you’ve just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
    Go ask Pibby
    I think she’ll know

    When toadies and Drucilla
    Have fallen seeming dead
And the White Knight is stalking Roger
And the Red Queen’s “off with his head!”
    Remember what the housefly said;
    “STUPID DEMONS

    STUPID DEMONS”

Ranma, your version is a psychedelic as the original. Well done!

I do NOT like what the last panel here portends for Satori, be she digital maiden or no, gosh, you should still get her consent!

And I very much enjoy how contorted Spinky is in panel one - what Brooke has to do to keep this a family feature!

I can tell you now, that if Satori was a real person, she would seriously not like the angle that the first frame was taken from!

Plus, why is everyone so surprised that Spinky’s blood has disappeared? This is a computer game! Have you not seen Mortal Kombat?? I’ll bet it’s only rated ‘T’ by the ESRB!

Also, chill out people! Why is everyone in such a hurry for the arc to finish? Enjoy the ride while you can!

thevenbede I can’t even imagine how your neighbors feel. I have been through seven miscarriages in 10 years (with still no luck), but they have always been in the first trimester. Not nearly as devastating, I’m sure. I actually might be adopting my niece’s baby in January, depending on her decision. Those of you that pray, please pray that whatever she decides is the best thing for the baby (even if it’s not us).

Bill Case I did that same exact thing yesterday. Why is it that we look and look for something like that, only to find it AFTER we say we can’t find it. LOL

    On “Santa Baby”

Thanks to everyone for outstanding detective work. The version I was looking for was indeed the one with Madonna, and it is now thoroughly acquired and added to my collection :)

Planning to make a music CD as a countermeasure weapon for when I overdose (or choke) on one too many of my girfriend’s more thoroughly annoying Christmas carols that tend to inhabit the CD player in eternal repeat mode for the entire month of December (and then some). Some of them are as kind to my ears as bits of chalk screeching across a blackboard. The CD will include every version of that song that I’ve found, including of course the one that she does like which is Miss Piggy’s number ;)

For the record, I’ve nothing against Carols, but some are more wearing on the ears than others ;)

Incidentally, I was somewhat amused to read that Wikipedia lists both Miss Piggy and RuPaul among the countless female artists who have covered the song. Both Frank Oz (Miss Piggy’s voice) and RuPaul are quite male. I know, I have a strange sense of humour ;)

ccdesan says: You probably saw the video of the Betty Boop doll

No, haven’t seen that before, although I do seem to remember one or more of Madonna’s music videos from the good old Eighties featuring Betty Boop as her cartoon animated alter ego. And the “Santa Baby” song comes complete with an oh so Betty Boopy “ba-boop-de-boop” somewhere in the middle.

Frida Bonita says: Congratulations on the apple pie. Mae Questel was the voice of Betty Boop. I can only find one youtube version and it’s very poor quality

Thank you :) The apple pie was for my turn to show up with cake for the weekly team meeting at work (a new tradition we’ve taken up), and was well received by all my colleagues. I’ll number it a surprising success :) And thanks for the video link. Is that Mae Questel’s voice, or another cover?

Gweedo, thankl you very much for that extensive comment on my photos. I now have a (way) better camera, and am only waiting for NJ to be unaware of its presence for long enough to let me get a couple of shots in. Downside is that it’s (way) more difficult to do candid or surprise shots with a big SLR than with a tiny compact ;) Congrats on your new camera. I hope you’ll have lots of fun with it :)

Actually on topic (a rare occurrence for me): What would you say are the odds that Roger has booby-trapped* Satori for Spinky’s (dis)pleasure, and that her apparent death merely serves as bait and distraction?

Love Satori’s expression in panel 2; it’s the same expression she wore when Roger said something like “And just for the record, I LOVE YOU! It being a recently-discovered affinity of mine to communicate one’s affection before dieing”

    emjrn:
What happened to Inky’s cut marks from Satori’s blade?

It’s a video-game world, remember? You “lose”, you regenerate… which brings the question of whether Spitcock will have to change his plans if Satori comes back to life in his arms

  48. Bucky Katt

Bucky KattGenius_badge said, 11 months ago
