Now Spitcock is totally hosed. Dru still has the ability to use the attacker’s energy against him…and this time it’ll be SUPERcharged!
And why has Roger not deployed the bat strategem?

And just what does Spitcock hope to accomplish? An incubus is supposed to gather the life force of unsuspecting slumbering females, but now that he’s cheated and robbed Dru, won’t the balance of power shift suddenly and not in his favor?

Responding to a question in yesterday’s comments:
txmystic says:
“Wasn’t Majel Barrett the actress who played Troi’s mother and supplied the voice of the computer on Next Generation?”
Yes, and played the First officer (“Number One”) in the Very First Pilot, and played Nurse Chappell in the original series… And, of course, Nichelle was Uhuru. Maj Barrett (at one time at least) was the answer to the trivia question, “Who is the only person who has appeared in every version of Star Trek, in one role or another?” (A character who is obviously “played” by Maj Barrett appears in Peter David’s Excalibur ST novels.)
And, of course, she’s Roddenberry’s widow.

Spinky is overconfident, there are still all those unaccounted for people..Roger and his bat are nearby, Lena & her hoe (what is it with the Eggs and implements, anyway?), Pib & Luciano & Geoff. I’m sure Mr McE hads plenty of twists and turns planned. Sigh. Every time I think I have it figured out, he confounds me.

Smash the lamp… does it matter now that Spinky has “assimilated” the powers?
Hmmm…
Dru does that all the time; it depends on if that part of her powers was stolen. If not, there they come back. If it was, Hmmmm…

When i was seven or so, living in Cleveland, we had a floor lamp just like that - except that instead of a mazda socket in the center (i think that’s what they were called - the standard socket is an “Ediaon” socket), it had an Edison socket for a three-way bulb.
Sisyphos said, about 1 year ago
Speaking from memory only, I think Majel Barrett was also Executive Producer [i.e., basically, Gene’s heir] on all the later tv versions.
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
So Spitcock and Inky would seem, indeed, to be one and the same.
And this one reminsds me of anohter strip - for a couple of reasons:

inky and spitty ARE the same.
maybe that plasma blast put roger out for a while and that’s why he didn’t smash the lamp. I still think Inky’s gonna get it though, and he’s giving Dru all the ammo to do it with.

Majel was in every Trek incarnation until the prequel Enterprise. I liked her Lawaxana Troi character the best, especially when she’d come on board the Enterprise-D and pester Capt. Picard. Really made me feel sorry for poor ol’ Jean-Luc.

I’m pretty sure you’re right - and she ran Lincoln Enterprises, which, at one time, was the official purveyor of ST tchotchkes(http://www.roddenberry.com/) - still in existence, and run by their son.

I never watchd Enterprise. Did they have a ship’s compter with a female voice? Because, if they did, Maj may have been it - that’s where she comes in to some of the movies.
Of course, in the old animated series, she was Chappell, the computer and at least on eother character, just as Nicols was Uhuru and M’Ress. George Takei couldn’t be in the animated series as Sulu, because he was running for some state or local office, and California law (at least at the time) banned people running for office from appearing on TV in any form (Ronald Reagan’s films couldn’t be shown there while he was running for Governor or President). However, Takei did voice Lt Arek, Sulu’s replacement.
Both M’ress and Arek (and Scotty), due to time-warp accidents, are characters in Peter David’s Excalibur series, which is set some time after TNG and DS9.

fairportfan,
Enterprise was a really underrated (IMO) show. The first couple of seasons were mostly dedicated to character development, and some of the episodes were less than “stellar” (pun definitely intended). :) The idea was that since the Federation hadn’t yet been founded, there was no Prime Directive and so the characters’ actions wouldn’t be as constrained as in the previous Trek series.
It was just hitting its stride IMO when it was canceled after four seasons, but part of that was because it was on an incompatible network (Spike, I think). I mean, c’mon - a Trek series followed by America’s Next Top Model? Puh-leeze.
Anyway, that first Enterprise was very primitive. I haven’t watched an episode in quite a while so I could be wrong, but I think that the computer either had a male voice or none at all.

A comment i posted on the sketch page:
Dru’s “flotation devices” are les obscured in the sketch.
The term for comics with that sort of image on the cover is “headlights comics” - http://www.toonopedia.com/phanlady.htm; this is a page from Don Markstein’s Toonopedia, an invaluable source for basic info on almost anything comic or animattion related.
A minor point of comics trivia: since Phantom Lady was a publication of Quality Comics, as were also Blackhawk and Plastic Man, she probably came out of the old Eisner and Iger shop (no relations to the modern-day pair who screwed up Disney for a while), and may well have been created by Will Eisner himself, whose magnum opus, The Spirit (http://www.toonopedia.com/spirit.htm) , is currently being desecrated as a film by Frank Miller…

Dunno, Trail_Blazer. I tried watching Enterprise, but gave up after a while–just couldn’t get into it. I didn’t like the casting, and the plots, at least the first season, seemed to have lost the Roddenberry Vision. DS9 was always limited by its fixed main locale, and jumped the shark towards the end when it became too metaphysical. TNG remains my favorite ST series, with just the right balance (though I know some fans can’t stand it).

Louise Jameson, who played Leela on Dr Who during the Tom Baker years, remarked that, while it was usual for stars on the show to get fanmail from kids, she was unusual and got quite a bit from dads, too.
“Of course,” she said, “that’s not all that surprising when you wear a leather bikini and come on right after football.”

Well, when Roddenberry kicked off, the careful timelines, situations, and technology that he maintained went out the window. Star Trek just wasn’t the same after that. It went in all directions.
2 of 38? Sorry, I’m dense, but I don’t get it.
Nah, 7 of 9, perhaps 2 of “DD”, maybe? Dru is prettier (actually most women are prettier of face than 7 of 9), but Dru would have to have dual forward augmentation for the role…

Pib: uh-oh. This doesn’t look good. Also,Suzerain has officially been dubbed as “that program” by Spitcock, which I guess we already knew. But does anyone else wonder if we’ve really seen the last of Satori?
Speaking of Jeri Ryan, here’s a little AliKzam trivia: I was an extra on “Boston Public” for three seasons, which also had the actor Chi MacBride in it. I felt he did an okay job in his role there, but I especially loved him in “Pushing Daisies”, which I just found out has been cancelled :(
Nabuquduriuzhur said, about 1 year ago
Ah, I see. Well, the 36 is the size across the chest. The D is the “cup size” of the brassier. Being completely politically incorrect: one can be completely flat and 38.
Nah, busty and ugly just never “did it” for me. Apparently the beauty contests mentioned in the IMDB article never looked above the neck. It’s always struck me how the average woman on the street is usually better looking facially than the models and even most of hollywood (without the makeup). The reason- modeling outfits and hollywood usually go for the famine victim look. I don’t know if it’s still “in”, but for a few years there, one heard about the “Hollywood nose” that all the actresses had about 2000 or so.

Dru, Geoff and Spinky, Roger, Luc and Lena. “I’d need a bleeep computer to keep track of all these names.”+ I hope this Pibby thing don’t go too far.
Thanks for delurking Poms, long enough to slosh around on the soggy carpet from our pool dwelling 7 yr. olds, to refresh your claim on the couch. I vacuum the Chee wa wa hair off occasionally lest they infer permanent resident status, but at least they’re doing their part to keep it warm. If you ‘n’ Unca come back a late Saturday/early Sunday we’ll have more time to celebrate during the doldrums between installments.
That Lutefisk update link dropped by *cc* went down like Dru’s finger. Will jump in from the boiler room after awhile.
I think Amos is taking all the stares rather grandly or should I say.. studly. It’s just like the women to think: “that slut !” when they would all give their everything to play “Edda’s Tune”.
Sorry to hear your com. link is in danger of pixelating fairportfan. Besides all the fun you have regaling us with stories, references and photos, you are, for real, one of the great educators in this column/couch. I don’t know how you relate to your immediate neighbor(s) or how far apart the houses are but it might be worth sharing internet if not too many people ride it between the two houses. One of you would be the subscriber and the other would need to buy something like a Linksys G, Range expander to catch and relay the signal. If you’re that close, a laptop might catch it anyway. If it’s a desktop then you’re most likely aware of the wireless adapter card which has the two antennas sticking up from it.(might still need the expander) Check store return policy. I already gather from previous posts that you don’t want charity. I respect that and hope you find a lasting solution.
Oh BTW ! Could you ask your sister, the Drapery/Blanketeer, to weave us a new cover for yon sofa as repeated washing has become less effective at removing food and drink stains. I don’t wanna be the one to say it, but there’s what looks like an A&E spot that’s just not coming out.
Just mulching through the Pibgorn comments columns takes more time than it used to to do all my comics for the day.
