I’m hoping the light goes on before the end of the week, but I think we still have quite a few strips before all the loose ends are tied up.
As much as I want to know what the qibp is going on, that doesn’t bother me too much…

Maybe the lines are like a time piece, pendulum or sun dial and the hoe also acts as a marker of time. When Lena dropped the hoe it marks the entry of time into the game.
I’m not liking it but it’s the best I can do for now.
macFicheallaigh said, about 1 year ago
Strange – Roger is holding the business end of the hoe, but it’s lying on the floor, business end closest to the monitor. How did that happen?
mcduffy322432 said, about 1 year ago
Hmm … Looks like he may put all the pieces together soon.
Frida Bonita said, about 1 year ago
If the hoe is a marker of time then it has been moving as the game progresses????
macFicheallaigh said, about 1 year ago
I just went through the archives – before Roger went through the portal, the business end of the hoe was lying away from the computer table. After Roger goes through, the position is reversed.
If this is a clue, what could it mean?
AliKzam said, about 1 year ago
Maybe… the way the hoe was pointed, um, with the metal thingy pointed away from the screen… like the lines in the room… and the other thingy? Because his screen didn’t do that before they did that with the hoe… but it did when they did that.
But I don’t understand how that’s supposed to save Lena.
(See, this is why I haven’t commented much, lately.)
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
Ok, I officially have no clue what’s going on.
Frida Bonita said, about 1 year ago
Like Spitcock, Roger could have several monitors connected to his hard drive, all showing Suzerain.
That would also explain keyboard vs no key board.
Gweedo Murray said, about 1 year ago
It doesn’t take an official to know we’re clueless. If D.T. was this good no one would complain about the cosmological pace, that this story is the master of.
I checked and replied to yesterday’s link direction Unc.

Ok, when Lena goes into the portal, it’s 17 years in the past. I’m guessing that the program was still in the process of booting up at the time Lena went in.
Roger goes in, and he’s in the Now of the game.
The hoe is connected with Lena – the program was in the process of digitalizing the whole package, i.e., Lena holding the hoe, but then she drops it. The hoe lies outside the game world, incompletely digitalized.
In the meantime, Lena becomes the queen. I’ll say that the hoe changed because Lena changed?
Here it is:
http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/pib/2007/pib071210.gif
You can see that the business end of the hoe is lying away from the computer table, just after Lena dropped it.

fingers drumming … it’s a symmetry switch of some kind. Doesn’t look like anything else in the room changed, just the hoe. Even the inmage of Satori is unchanged.

Did they both let go at the same time? So the hoe switched positions only after Roger entered the world? What could that mean?
macFicheallaigh said, about 1 year ago
More idle speculations – is there a kind of dream wish fulfillment attached to the game world? Lena wants to become like Dru, she becomes an evil succubus. Roger dreams of Satori, he meets her. Dru meets someone who is the near match of her sexual prowess and falls in love.
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
The lines on the floor at Sphinchie’s portal have something to do with it, I’m sure. What exactly is anybody’s guess.
Except Mr. McE of course. He knows.
And he’s not tellin! We’ll just have to wait ANOTHER 23 anna half hours!

There very well might be!
Maybe even for Roger, who was wishing for a world with less boredom! (be careful what you wish for!)

I just had a horrible thought –
What if Amos and Edda make up, make nice, and get back to becoming bestest of friends again –
– and this affects his playing –
– – – by making it worse – ???
It’s a possibility!
Of course, that plot device has also been beaten to death. We might as well find out there’s an Odd Polite Twin to go with the Evin Rude one.

Just a quick thought - I’m still at work - Lena fell into Suzerain through Roger’s computer. Everybody else went in through Spitcock’s - maybe her aging faster has to do with CPU speeds?
Alternative - there are THREE realities - Suzerain, the real world outside Spitcock’s computer, the real world outside Roger’s. [And before someone says so, yes, I do know that I hve said real world twice… : )]
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
Yah, ccdesan, what’s wrong with “Sphinchie”?
It has that certain, “jenny see kwa”, no?
(yah, I saw Kwa, what about him?)
Got some bleach here, don’t know if it’s good for the brain or not, but yer welcome to try it. (sign this waiver first, please)

Hmmmm. Hopefully, McE will explain what Roger means. There’s been a time or two in years past that things were resolved, but we, the readers were not quite in the loop as to how, precisely, it was accomplished. The artwork was great, but one wondered just what it depicted in a few cases, for example.
Nabuquduriuzhur said, about 1 year ago
Sodium hypochlorite bleach? A few drops and it kills all but the most stubborn bacteria in your camp drinking water (and giardia, drat it).
_Charlotte_ said, about 1 year ago
Ooo… I can answer that, Roger. –>Drusilla. The portal opened up after she was hooked up and began powering the program. That’s why you didn’t fall through when you were fondling the image of Satori after installing your warez, and did afterwards.
Roger believes the “You bastard” message came from Lena, but I always wondered if it was from Spitcock, to Roger, referring to the fact that Roger had stolen his program and it had ended up putting an unwanted player in it that Spitcock didn’t want and had to deal with.
http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/pib/2007/pib071221.gif
That looks to me like the face of a man who is annoyed and upset about something and could easily say, “You bastard” when he finds out who has caused the aggro. I just don’t hear “you bastard” as a comment coming from Lena.

UncaAlby: Isn’t that “My Mother the Car”?

Hroth said, about 1 year ago
I was just looking at that frame of ‘ol TinTrousers raising his sword to strike at Young Lena. Perhaps that was the moment when she learned she had the power to Zonk, and that the rising birds/digitalisation effect was the kniggit disintegrating? Spitcock’s expression might have been because he’s taken aback by an unexpected magical discharge in Suzerain.
The “You Bastard” screen may be due to him messaging the terminal of whoever has opened another portal into “his” world, it might have been Lena’s mental shriek as she totalled the knight.
Ain’t speculation fun!

Is Roger questioning the position of the hoe, or the ability to be able to be drawn into or leap into the monitor and enter the game itself? The hoe having done a 180 and positioned where it is could be significant. Or it could be one of those “make them watch one hand while you do something with the other” things.
Kaibyo said, about 1 year ago
And what about Maurice?
thinkingaboutit said, about 1 year ago
I will suggest that the teddy bear is the source of her power, something she holds dear and in the past has confided all her dreams in.
The hoe needs to be extended into the monitor that Lena can grab and be brought back to Roger’s point in time reference.
What ‘that’ is - could be that Spitcock controls which portals are exit portals. In other words you may enter through more than one portal, however, there is only ONE portal which can be used to exit.
What Roger may be thinking is How can he open another exit portal?

Ooooh, ccdesan used the “Q” word.
Mayhaps yonder hoe’s thingy end was magically magnetized and swung around after being dropped to the floor to point directly towards the portal.
Yes, speculation IS fun…It’s the blasted lack of answers that crowds us all onto the couch of confusion.

Makes perfect sense to me. I know that all MY garden tools tend to move around on their own when I’m not watching.

I jusrt saw the Sketches page: Except for the center sketch, all the others are replicates from past strips. They appear to me to be in Roger’s minds eye as he ponders the whichness of what.
I have wondered about the “compass rose” fanning out beneath the door…..

Some thoughts:
Could the lines under Spitcock’s main portal monitor be ley lines for the enregy flux?
Could the genius of Spitcock be his working out the overlay of a quantum anomaly onto a computer, with the monitor at its focus?
Could Spitcock’s computer system allow him to perform a chronofracture, allowing the ability to travel back in time and subtly altering events? The chronofracture might have to be initiated in the present in Spitcock’s lab, and completed in the past, in the same space, allowing Roger to be the (re)programmer we’ve been speculating about.
The hoe could then be more profitably used to extract Lena in Roger’s room as Pigely has previously speculated.

Well, we are on strip 259. My guess isa bookie would set the over/under at 300. If so, we have another 8 weeks before the finish. That’s lot of time for plot twists and explanations.
