No, not Satori!

I know that Roger loves Lena, but she is such a miserable brat. I guess you can’t expect a “program” to live.

Well, THAT was unexpected.

Igor is still there, and is the grass under Lena turning black? Is the whole program going to fade like Satori and they will be left in Spitcock’s lab, or Roger’s room, or a big blank area?
Wood_Gracie said, about 1 year ago
Need to sleep now…if I can…
So Lena is okay? if she’s not dead why is Satori fading when her task is not really complete? Why isn’t the entire background becoming pixilated?
Wood_Gracie said, about 1 year ago
Okay emjrn… now cut that out! ;)

There’s still the bear…it’s just a matter of when and how it’s going to figure.
What’s really ridiculous is the meaningless comments being posted to Pibgorn just to be first or to set records.

I wept yesterday, and I weep today. Satori has gone to devnull, with only memories to prove she ever existed.
The artwork around the de-res is very nice, though.
Lena’s lack of pain could be construed as an ominous development, but it is almost certain that instead of death, retrogression will be the result - hopefully without 17 years worth of salacious memories…
Still many questions to be answered, but one is certain: It is bedtime. And to all a good night!

I’m really not doing it on purpose! It is just that great minds think alike!!!
Man, I can’t even type that without laughing!

Got here! Not too late am I? Now, that scene where Pib is flying Geoff poy pf the lake. I think those storm clouds might be significant.

Game Over??
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
The interesting thing i see is that it is not usual for an NPC (non-player character) to act independently to end the game.
I suspect that there is probably one nore twist (at least) on the way.

Roger is one geek with an amazing story; if anybody believes him, that is.

If there’s any way we can see Satori return, I’m up for the twist.
9CWL: This is *so* painful to watch. A little bird told me that the Creator is being very careful with developments at this point in the story line… my hope is that both A & E do some serious growing here in the next little while.
emjrn said, about 1 year ago
It’s sad. I look at the last panel and my first thought is:
Let’s get an IV line in, someone hook her up to the monitor, what’s her pressure, do we need to start a drip, get some lab drawn and some blood ready. We need some ABGs drawn, a stat CXR and EKG. Get her clothes off and lets see what her injuries are.
Sounds like the start of one of the medical shows on TV.

Oh! La belle nuit pour le pauvre monde!
Et vive la mort et l’égalité!

What matters is that Satori believes her task is complete!

If Mr. McE is reading, we love the Satori character. If a resurrection could be arranged, it would be most welcome.

Fearciuil, my French is no longer that good, please translate.
UncaAlby said, about 1 year ago
Well one question has certainly been answered! We now know for sure that Satori was not another human who had been trapped in the game. She was a programmed construct, part of the game all along.
My bet is tomorrow, or Friday, Spitcock is going to notice something and have some kind of reaction.
emjrn said, about 1 year ago
UncaAlby, I bet you are right!
That will be a very interesting reaction.
fear-ciuil said, about 1 year ago
margueritem, it was a copy/paste job (as is the translation):
Zig and zig and zig, what a saraband!
Circles of corpses all holding hands!
Zig and zig and zag, in the throng you can see
King and peasant dancing together!
But pst! Suddenly the dance is ended,
They jostle and take flight - the cock has crowed;
Ah! Nocturnal beauty shines on the poor!
And long live death and equality!
Someone (don’t recall who; sorry) mentioned something about music holding the key to where this may be headed; this may be of what they were speaking. Or not. ::shrug::
It’s the last two stanzas from Henri Cazalis’ “Danse macabre.”

As far as Lena, well…

Aww, crap! Today’s strip is just sad! Not that I’m complaining; I’m totally enveloped in the story. Lena better come back, dang it! I really wanted Satori to be a real person. She was just beginning to develope a personality…
Of course, Satori isn’t the only character we’ve seen pixelated before.
Hey, are those straws? I think I can reach them from here!
Nabuquduriuzhur said, about 1 year ago
Well, given how things have worked, Satori might well be real and just gone back to whereever she really belongs. Hope so.
SirMirom said, about 1 year ago
Note Satori’s language though - “‘Suzerain’ is completed.” Meaning, it’s not just that SHE has completed her mission… the entire world is ‘completed.’ The reason d’etre (go on, correct my spelling!) is over…. so indeed, Satori pixelates, Lena-The-Queen is ceasing to feel, the grass is turning to black… the whole thing is about to vanish in a puff of bytes, methinks.
I think Roger will need to make a last second dash for the portal before the whole construct goes.
If Spinky wasn’t so, um, busy, he’d notice that his ‘world’ was about to go down, and he’d quickly plug in a new queen. But depriving Suzerain of an active queen is the only thing that can take it off-line.
Just my $0.02.

@lucktron:
As long as nothing overwrites that section of computer memory why shouldn’t the environment continue?
And a sufficient memory leak could make it semi-permanent.

Chickweed: Another dark night of the soul. Time for dream vision[s]? Sleepwalking? Some communication? I think Brooke has achieved a deep level of pathos in both his worlds so it’s nearly time for summat to come along and tickle the dying swans’ noses. http://tinyurl.com/593jsd 13 Apr. 2004

ccdesan: Ah, Child 79. Steeleye does a version on All Around My Hat I think.
Robert Graves, who started out, with his compatriots, singing such old ballads in the trenches in France during the First World Tiff, anon began to sing his own:
Children born of fairy stock
Never want for shirt or frock
Never want for food or fire,
Always get their heart’s desire:
Jingle pockets full of gold,
Marry when they’re seven years old.
Every fairy child may keep
Two strong ponies and ten sheep;
All have houses each his own
Built of brick or granite stone;
They live on cherries, they run wild–
I’d love to be a Fairy’s child.
