Well, we well and truly saw that coming… That’s what I love about this strip - no matter how serious it gets, there’s always room for a little slapstick from time to time.
I have this vision of all of us sitting close to our minotaurs, flailing the refresh key and trying to be the 6th caller to KPIB, to win prizes worth up to dollars… :^)

That was it – he was looking for the spot where he first hit the ground.
Interesting – Roger and Lena went in through the computer monitor in his room, Geoff and Pib through the big one in Spitcock’s lair, but they’re coming over at the same entrance point.
We still don’t know why Lena entered the world 17 years earlier than the rest of the group.

One possibility – that’s not really Lena after all! We’re simply being led to believe it’s Lena, who is, in actuality, being kept captive somewhere. Altho, if true, I don’t know of anyone else we’ve seen thus far who it might be. It just wouldn’t be cricket to introduce a new “surprise” character so late in the game!

Unca Alby Re: yesterday’s post about Luciano’s wings not flapping, but they were in the drawing concerning the kissing and walking. I,for sure, was one who mentioned about them not flapping in the lab. I think Brooke’s gotten a bit lazy about doing that every time but I’m okay with that. Some other ‘toons have good scripts but not necessarily good art to go with. This guy does it all and I like the kind of company that he has over.

I would hesitate to use the word lazy with regard to Mr. McE. He maintains a 7-day a week schedule on 9CWL and throws 5 days worth of Pibgorn in as well. All his own work, lettering, coloring, you name it.
Not to mention having a life.
I’m thinking more like “By my Sainted Grandmother’s Cameo Brooch! I’ve got 10 minutes to get this cartoon cranked out by deadline! What can I do faster?”

Well, that throws off my whole “You change into something else in the game if you don’t realize what you’re getting into, or if you’re magical” theory. Pib’s still Pib and Geoff’s still a guy in a rolled Salvation Army officer’s uniform.
… Of course, Spinky isn’t exactly paying much attention to them right now.
By the way, I mentioned it earlier, but I’m going to be out of town for about a week, so this will probably be the last strip I post about for a little while. Have fun speculating!

Re the teddy bear - of course, I could be totally wrong. I once wrote a text game in the days when Colossal Cave was the benchmark which included a similar item purely as a red herring. Maybe BMcE is doing the same?

Good Morning!
Roger has said for sometime that he has figured this game out. Maybe he meant not just within Suzerain but the WHOLE enchilada. Doubtful but hey it’s 1 AM so maybe I have 2 active brain cells functioning.
Looks like Pib and Geoff have dropped in on Roger before he had a chance to go through. Lena is still 25 because, yep and still holding teddy, not wearing, never mind.
Give us the bear facts mam, just the facts.

I hope you realize that you have just declared WAR!!!
I used to be able to click on my bookmarks each night, view a couple of dozen comics and be done in half an hour or so. Then I discovered the comments here and my reading time escalated.
Somebody mentioned the Wapsi Square strip (which goes all the way back to 2001). That cost me an all nighter plus. One HAS to go to the beginning to understand what is happening!
That led to menage a` 3 but that is much lighter fare and only goes back to this May.
The situation got really out of hand when I started posting. The comments were increasing rapidly in number, were becoming as interesting as the strip, and pointed out things that I had totally missed. Comments were made that necessitated reviewing earlier strips. Research was required before posting to avoid appearing to be more of an idiot than I really am. I used to save Pibgorn for desert - now Pib comes first. I constantly check the comments many times a day. (I know I am not alone in this!) I even went so far as to post a limerick. I get anxious when it approaches 10 PM. I am losing sleep and not getting anything done.
Up until yesterday my life was just only going to hell in a hand basket and heading for disaster.
But YESTERDAY! Yesterday you went over the line. Now no recovery is possible. Yesterday you had the audacity to post a link to a Live Journal Chickweed / Pibgorn site knowing full well my insatiable curiosity would lead me to investigate the site and find more time killers than is humanly possible to resist! Well buster, I’m taking you down with me. If I have to go, you’re going too!
The LJ page you posted had a link to a forum on British comedy and just on the first page alone I found links to clips of the Goons and Monty Python. Geesh! The Goons preceded (Peter Sellers was one of the members), - and were an inspiration for - Monty Python. And you know how addicting Monty Python is. I feel I have just seen the tip of the iceberg as there are hours of these clips to view and lots of links to even more clips. This may be an infinite source of interesting and fatally addicting material.
So remember - when you become so frail and withered from being glued to your Minotaur (as I will be), that you can’t raise your coffee cup to keep your eyes open or press another key to get the next strip or video - you started it.
Here is my volley - ducking will not help!!!

And i have the complete original broadcast format version of “The Fourth Tower of Inverness.”
And it was i - i, i tell you! - who mentioned “Wapsi Square”.

And i haven’t even mentioned “Something*Positive”, or “Punch an’ Pie”, or “Striptease”, or “Misfile”, or “The Wotch” or “El Goonish Shive” or even Atlanta’s own Jennie Breeden’s The Devil’s Panties”.

Important “Liberty Meadows” News!
I think that “Liberty Meadows” still appears in comic book form certainly i see it on the shelves at my comic shop, but i don’t know for sure if it’s still coming out…
Looking at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Meadows), it appears that the boom is still running - and it was 2001 when he took the strip away from the syndicate and went to self-publishing.
There’s also a link (http://www.pvponline.com/2007/11/14/wed-nov-14/) to a collaboration with the creator(s) of the webcomic PvP, parts 9-12 or which take place at Liberty Meadows and were drawn by Cho.

It could be that the bear is there simply to remind/maintain that lena is/was a little girl. A bloody crazy and dangerous little girl, but a little girl. Or, maybe the bear hides a secret stash of some sort… Anthrax, Plutonium, a knife. Or perhaps the bear is only a joke, everyone in the story has at some point removed their clothes, everyone except Satori. Hmm… How I would love to be in charge of casting for the movie version of this story. Brad Pitt as Geoff, Angelina as Dru, but who to cast as Pibgorn?
MermaidStitcher said, about 1 year ago
re: Liberty Meadow I t stop back when the book came out . To find out if Brandi married or left the alter for Frank was the clif hanger that they stop at on the internet. To find out you had to buy the book. After that they are doing reruns.

DOGGONE IT! I was looking forward to some more hot-flames-o-lovin’. Oh well, we had to get back to this thread eventually, I guess.
Pib has been out for awhile…I wonder if she needs to become a tree or get deposited into a candle flame soon.
Re: Liberty Meadows–it was the wedding cliffhanger that made me realize that I did not care enough about those characters (or especially Frank and Brandy’s “relationship”) to buy the book. And I don’t think I’ve read it since. Let that be a lesson to you, Frank Cho!

If you want Spike Milligan, check out the Great McGonagall. I have the Book of the Goons. It includes correspondence between the goons(Spike, Peter Sellers and Harry Secomb) as well as a few radio scripts.

A skewed version of the Most Famous Stage Direction Ever: Enter, perused by bear.
Back on 13 Dec. 07 Brooke, on his Pibgorn blob, references his creation of Lena by comparing himself to Colin Clive animating The Creature, so I think Lena is fused in his imagination with the Frankenstein story, which in turn was inspired by the myth of Pygmalion. There are several characters who seem to be trying to become more human or to grow up, which is much the same thing.
9 CWL: Oh bugger, now I’ll have to put It happened One Night on the netflix cue–reputedly the first of the Screwball Comedies and the last to be made before Hollywood started enforcing their production Code.
Speaking of growing up, do Edda and Amos have the means to erect a Wall of Jericho? Wonder if one of Isabel’s monie a weary nibble included booking the Bridal Suite?
Gweedo Murray said, about 1 year ago
You’re right cd. I was *lazy in not finding a better way to do that. I forgot about the other strip and if a person isn’t allowed a life, watch out for the bolts and evil(Edda) grin.
