Well, this answers my question from yesterday…aerwalt was right, though. Roger should’ve ducked!

From what Roger said at one point, I believe the game has reset several times. Does it happen when Satori, the in-game hero character, as it were, dies? To me, that would make sense. Roger, Pib and Dru have entered the game, but Satori is the ‘avatar’ for players, I believe.

Ah! Now I see, the game restarted because Sartori died. Her death counts, their’s doesn’t. But why didn’t Roger go back? And why did the Queen slug him instead of zapping him? Because she’s Lena and doesn’t want to zap her brother? lol Or because she knows he’ll just regenerate? This suspense is absolutely delicious.

It just occurred to me. I don’t think Roger has figured out what restarts the game: “Shoot!… …They’ve restarted the game!…” I think he’d be more upset if he realized Satori just bought the farm. That’s assuming my theory is right that it’s her death that restarts everything. I’m jealous, Brooke - not many writers or artists get to have so much regular feedback from their readers/viewers. At least, I haven’t noticed nearly the commenting going on for other strips here that I read. Of course, you deserve it - you break the mold and give us something truly creative, beautiful and thought-provoking.

If the Queen is Lena I’m surprised she only slugged Roger. Lena is one vicious little ………brat, and a prime candidate for infanticide.

Dru’s gonna have to learn to keep her head or they’re never gonna get outta there.
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
Just the sort of nit=pick so popular in the “Goofs” section on IMDB.com - note in panel 3 that (pre-reset) the Queen’s bra strap (the right one) that Roger cut is intact…
Also, i think it resets whenever any major character buys it - remember, Roger first remarked on the phenomenon when the knight killed Dru.

The thought provoking, pithy wisdoms That Brooke pitches in his strips; particularly “Chickweed” are positively delicious. He definitely gets the most feedback and has answered my e-mails personally.

I have to shoot down my own theory. On 1/23 Dru fried Satori and the game didn’t restart. There are no rules here!

progan01 - I thought the sun returned to noon because Dru was charging up the system each time she delivered a bolt of plasma - so the sun at noon would indicate “fully charged.” But the sun didn’t got back to noon the first time Dru tried to blast the Evil Queen, though that may have just been an oversight.

“Shoot, they’ve restarted the game!”
Is Roger referring to the missing scimitar or the fact that the queen’s bra strap has miraculously healed itself? I know which side I’m coming down on.
Nabuquduriuzhur said, about 1 year ago
Could be that Spitcock or Lena is outside on the keyboard, actually playing the game, too, and has restarted it.

I think that perhaps Roger didn’t duck because I suggested it. But probably not.
If Lena is the Queen, do either Queenie or Roger realise this before, during or after “ravishment”? If so, what will be their reactions?
Yuck or Yum? If yum, they’re not sibs.

kittiwolf – I think you’re being a tad presumptuous!
kittiwolf said, about 1 year ago
everything!
it’s COMIC STRIP!!!! yet it’s being discussed more than our national dept!
What does it matter what restarts the game - you’ll find out at the end. It’s JUST a story.
Cute and well drawn - but still a story.
Presumptuous How? Would you feel more comfortable if I didn’t joke about it?
But since it got Your attention AND a comment..
Yes i am …
it makes me happy :)

Actually, Pibgorn is a) more interesting, b) more attractive, and c) more open to rational discussion than the national debt. Leave the Dismal Science out of our fantasy, please.

kittiwolf –
I visited the page you listed. Unless I somehow went to the wrong, link, it says, “GAMERS, Right now, Other People Are Having Sex.”
.
So, you presume that those of us who play Games and/or Discuss our favorite Online Cartoons are NOT having sex?
.
Nobody makes that kind of silly accusation when someone is passionate about something as lame as football or basketball. You see these fans in the stands, with their half-naked bodies painted in team colors, in 30 degree weather. Are THEY having sex?
.
Well, fathers enjoy these sports with their sons, so unless they adopted, I suppose so.
.
In England, they’ll have a riot in the streets if their team loses. Heck, they’ll have a riot in the street if their team wins.
.
So, we’re a little passionate about a cartoon instead of football. I certainly hope that doesn’t bother anybody.
kittiwolf said, about 1 year ago
actually no one makes that kind of accusations when it comes to team sports only because 1) it is unadvisable in the company of people on steroids with no foreheads, and 2) it’s too obvious and holds no challenge.
And why are we on the sports subject?
Also adopted kids are not allowed into sports apparently?
Of course you are passionate about a cartoon - this one actually is cheaper and has a better story line then your average Playboy -
:)
For me it’s just amusing to call “Spade a spade” and watch what rears up …
Apparently a funny de-motivational poster can be quite a bait -
At least we are not discussing the significance of the avatars in restarting position:
HERE - be offended to your hearts content!

And my personal favorite:

LOL-
Sense of Humor anyone?

Gotta say… this is the darkest aspect of Dru’s dark side to see the light of day – errrrmmm – in recent memory.
She just calmly, cooly murdered Sartori. And seems pretty satisfied about it. Wow.
It’s wilder than the evening news.
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
Regarding Roger’s remark that the sun returns to noon when Dru “does that” - while she had, indeed, discharged a goodly blast of plasma immediately previous, immediately before that she had been run through and pinned to a tree with a lance.
I would say that that was the reset, not the plasma bolt.
Fairportfan said, about 1 year ago
Dru “calmly, cooly murdered” Pib when they first met.
Pib, of course, Got Better.

Brooke doesn’t have a forum as such - many webcomics have discussion boards over at TalkAboutComics.com and the discussions can get very lively.
This is one of the most substantial and unfettered strips that has ever appeared, outstripping (no pun intended) Calvin and Hobbes in many respects, with all due respect to Watterson, whose work I adored.
I suspect Brooke is grounded and centered enough that comments one way or another don’t have much impact on his flights of fancy. If anything, they probably make him smile if he ever checks them out.
Pibgorn is an important part of a balanced diet!

Besides, Dru was fully aware before she killed her that Satori would just reset. And hey, Satori has killed her a bunch of times, so I’m sure that Succubus found it a bit satisfying to get just a little payback in. Anyway, the chick was annoying her!
