Better skip to the end, then, Phoebe.

I don’t think the problem is be picked last, but be used as human shield.

I can relate to Phoebe hating getting hit by a ball. I hated playing soccer in the gymnasium for that reason.
Marigold will be there soon to pick things up.

kaykeyser, you totally nailed that predicament!! :) (Considering these strips are probably drawn weeks in advance, that’s pretty good!) Now let’s see what Marigold does…

I was a fairly small kid, not very athletic, and dodgeball was really the big musclebound oafs trying to knock the smaller kids down, throwing as hard as they could for the face. I hated dodgeball. I considered myself lucky to get away without a bloody nose.

Who likes dodge ball? Phoebe is one normal kid.

Huh. Dodgeball was probably my favorite part about P.E. I knew a handful of people who didn’t like it, but I always figured it was just that: a handful.

And, I have no idea why GoComics is duplicating my comments, so I apologize for any doubles I post AND for trying to delete duplicates and ending up deleting both copies.

I kinda liked it too. I guess I lucked out with a class with no muscleheads, or else balls too light to hurt.

I was right about dodge ball! Now lets see if Im right about Marigold. Also that kid has a creepy yet fascinating face. I wounder if she knows about the unicorn or if shes from an other class?

when I was in grade school, roughly when the tar pits were being formed, we didn’t have P. E., (parochial school); we played dodgeball for fun on the asphalt around the school. For the most part we were pretty civilized. Sorry to hear it’s become a bully ground. Hate bullies.

Is it possible Phoebe is about to meet a normal human friend?

When I was in junior high, the teachers took pains to keep it from being rough or throwing the ball too hard. It was actually fun. They could improve it today by using some of hte softer balls available today. although, given that teachers are not responsible today like they used to be, it’s hard to imagine them preventing the bad stuff now.
