Phoebe can’t keep her mind on the here and now, always looking to the future. Never on were she is or what she’s doing. Marigold, always thinking “Im a unicorn and your not”
Well its better then having the mind of a cat who thinks all day “Im a cat and I don’t care what you do” or a dog who just thinks “feed me feed me..squirrel..” or being a seagull who just thinks “mine mine mine” Though Marigold’s one track “Me me me” does more often now acknowledge the existence of an other creature whom she cares about who is not her self. Still, like I said last time Marigold can no more speak of school then phoebe can of finding a perfect lawn. There’s just no way to relate.

Marigold is right though. Our skill in thinking ahead, when we think to do it, is one of the human race’s great powers.

    re: ujean
I miss the days when this country planned ahead and evaluated various possible actions before they happened. 1993 was the year that it all changed. Infrastructure and other public works cut 80+%. The federal employees who did the actual work for the public (engineers, foresters, scientists, etc.) were almost entirely phased out to the tune of 100,000+. States followed the federal lead and each year get even worse in doing stupid things.
It wasn’t that long ago that 5, 10, 20, and longer plans were made. It wasn’t that long ago that most officials and elected people were honest and were something other than law school graduates, with vocations of all types represented in our Congress, legislatures, and so on.
When the boomers took over, both governments and business became mostly immoral, with misconduct the standard now, rather than the exception. A team player used to be someone who could work well with others. Now a team player is an accomplice. In the last decade, I’ve not seen one HR person who actually was interested if a person could do a given job. It always came down to stupid stuff.
The results of letting our public lands go, and worse, letting the ecos effectively run them has destroyed one national treasure after another. The results of short term greed gone insane meant we went from the premier manufacturing country in 1993 to a distant 5th with more than half the nation out of work.
When we stopped reaching for the stars above, we began to rot below.

I have read that humans is the only animal that thinks about the future, and the only ones that worry themselves sick thinking about it.

If only humans worry about the future, than why do animals build nests?

And when school starts you can only think about the weekend and where your next class is.

Is the problem with humans, they don’t think in the here and now.

It’s not going to change when you’re going to college, sad to say.

Phoebe will probably start thinking of Christmas break as soon as school starts.

When your a kid you always think of the future, it never comes fast enough. When your old you always think of the past and realize just how fast things were moving.

A whole lifetime of trying to be in the hear and now, and I’m still getting it wrong.
How can you expect a child to do better?

Why not, the stores are selling Halloween NOW so Christmas stuff will be on shelves by October. Santa will come down your chimney dressed as Dracula.

You don’t have to think about where you are right now… Just look around and there it is.
