Is this turning into a transparent storyline?

Is Phoebe suggesting that there is someone directing their lives, like an author of their story?

…the fly on the wall suggested it…

Nerds are already invisible for all practical purposes that involve social interaction. I spent most of my childhood trying to attract attention.

I spent most of mine successfully avoiding it. The aura of ‘not really being there’ does have it’s downside tho’, especially when it extends to your car _

Phoebe is correct: Marigold suggested it. Admittedly, it was an indirect, implied suggestion, true, but how else is one to interpret “Not nearly as transparent as you could be”, hmmm?

With that expression on Phoebe’s face she is whistling past the grave yard here. She wants invisibility. (I assume the kind that you can keep your clothes on of course.)

Just wear something badly clashing or out of season or out of situation.
    .
One of my first jobs was in a 7-11. It was summer and I was working swing. A fellow comes in wearing shorts, a pink moon boot on one foot, no shirt, and a necktie. Buys a pack of beer and leaves. We got a good laugh out of it, but managed to keep a straight face while he was there. Next day he comes in and sheepishly mentions it was on a dare.

Kids want to be able to become invisible.

Parents would rather that they become INAUDIBLE
