I believe Meredith McIver, the speech writer, who said Melanie on the phone read the 3 phrases from Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech, because Melanie admires Michelle, and wanted something similar for her own speech.-Meredith said she offered to resign because she failed to verify the 2008 speech wording, and used what Melanie had read to her. Meredith said neither Donald or Melanie Trump would fire her and Donald told her that anyone could make an innocent mistake. How anyone jumps from that to this carton depicting Donald Trump rigging his wife’s speech, is beyond ethics or morality, IMO.-IMO it did not rise to a legal plagiarism, Michelle’s speech was not copyrighted and Michelle does not own the English language. The 3 phrases are common language for families where parents teach children Biblical principles for growing up into responsible adults. For ages and ages. It is part of the Judeo-Christian Heritage.-Michelle Obama did not create those phrases….hers was copied from Saul Alinsky’s book “Rules for Radicals” which Obama knew because he admired Alinsky. Perhaps so did Michelle….I suspect most of the people involved in being “Community Organizers” with Obama were thoroughly versed in Alinsky teachings. These things have been written and published over the years….I’m just posting what I remember reading. The point is no one owns common phrases in speeches or books.
