    If you remember that, it should be OLD Dog, not Odd Dog…not that I remember it or anything, of course.

    And Bob’s your leprechaun.
    (Paraphrasing Bob’s your uncle, British expression for your number’s up.)

    Well, it is HIS pot of gold and not theirs. That’s really all he wants, is to sit in a lawn chair with no shoes and drink beer.

    @Bruno Zeigerts

    Bob’s your uncle does not mean your number’s up it means if you follow a set of instructions or do something in a certain way, eg if I plant my flowers in the Autumn and protect them in the winter and Bob’s your uncle by spring I’ll have a nice garden. A common explanation is that the phrase dates to 1887, when British Prime Minister Robert Cecil, Lord Salisbury decided to appoint Arthur Balfour to the prestigious and sensitive job of Chief Secretary for Ireland. Lord Salisbury was Arthur Balfour’s uncle.

    Of course in reality, a rainbow has no end. It’s actually a circle, which you can see if viewed from a plane.
