If you’re unsuccessful, Pig, you can always say “Ahh baloney!!”; but
if you’re successful, on the other hand, here’s one method of cooking them.

From: ”The Fannie Farmer Cookbook” (Twelfth Edition)

    Pan-Fried Abalone

    { I’m skipping a bit of history which is in the book… }

….Should you be so lucky as to obtain abalone steaks, tenderize them by pounding with a wooden mallet.
Use persistent, firm strokes, and flatten them to quarter-inch thickness.
Do not overcook, or the abalone will be tough and rubbery.
Thirty seconds to a side is enough; less is better.

    (SERVES TWO)

    2 abalone steaks, tenderized
    3 tablespoons butter
    1 tablespoon oil
    Salt
    Freshly ground pepper
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    2 parsley sprigs

Pat the abalone dry with paper towels.
Melt the butter with the oil in a large skillet.
When the butter foams and is very hot, add the steaks.
Season with salt and pepper and fry 30 seconds on each side.
Transfer to a warm platter, drizzle with lemon juice, and garnish with parsley.

@masterskrain—Best typo I’ve seen is the one where the writer said that, in the new “Lone Ranger” movie, Johnny Depp is playing TOTO!
“Kemo Sabee, me think we not in Kansas anymore!”

I’ve never watched the Lone Ranger, but I have watched the Wizard of Oz, and I know a lot about the Lone Ranger, so I think that typo is ridikkulus (watch or read Harry Potter 3) and your comment just made it more so!

You’re supposed to suit up at the dive-site, Pig! Rat will be your first-dive supervisor. Also, your last dive….
