At its heart, Pearls Before Swine is the comic strip tale of two friends: an arrogant Rat who thinks he knows it all and a slow-witted Pig who doesn't know any better. Together, this pair offers caustic commentary on humanity's quest for the unattainable. Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams says that Pearls is "one of the few comics that make me laugh out loud." The strip has twice won the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben division award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip – in 2003 and in 2006.

Rat, you really should go skiing with Claudine Longet.
Maybe practice team biathlon, she was part of a world famous biathlon duo a few years ago.

Hey Rat!…“you bore me”
Sisyphos said, 11 months ago
If Rat were “normal,” Goat, Pastis would fire him, and you and the rest of the PBS cast would soon be out of a job. Is that what you really want?

We went to Lake Placid a couple of years ago and watched the ski jumpers practicing. We were able to get right up at the top – right by where they start off. That is very – very – high.

Why can’t Rat be normal. Because of his superiority complex brought on by his extremely overinflated ego. And when his ego is popped he realizes just how inferior he really is, leading to him having to patch and reinflate it. Still funny when Pig’s sister popped that mamoth ego of his by tell him she was leaving him for Ziggy because Ziggy was a real man.
