At its heart, Pearls Before Swine is the comic strip tale of two friends: an arrogant Rat who thinks he knows it all and a slow-witted Pig who doesn't know any better. Together, this pair offers caustic commentary on humanity's quest for the unattainable. Dilbert cartoonist Scott Adams says that Pearls is "one of the few comics that make me laugh out loud." The strip has twice won the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben division award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip – in 2003 and in 2006.

Aww. Nice of Rat, however, to make Pig available to us at a fair price.
Hey, Pig: you should mention that it’s Bloomsday!

Okay… drop the sign and back away from the pig slowly. That’s it, now put your hands behind your back and do the hokey pokey.

Yes, by putting the $20.00 on it you establish that it has some real value. People will accept this and believe that they have scored a real bargain.
Beware, this is a well-known technique in merchandising – falsely inflating “value” to make buyers think they are getting a bargain.

Soon rat will be in the adjoining box with a “Free” sign hung around his neck. Nobody will take him.

Let’s see…pork chops, and ham hocks are over a dollar and a half a pound…I think that Pig is a bargain!

A couple down the street is being evicted and everything they own has been in the yard for weeks
The piles have been steadily shrinking, we bought some furniture from them, I’m hoping they were paid for most of the rest of the stuff that’s gone but I doubt it

I tried to sell an old TV for $5 on a garage sale, and it wouldn’t sell. I raised the price to $20 and it went right away.
