   For some reason that reminded me of an old John Wayne movie, They Were Expendable. LtJG (wayne) and his CO, LT. (mongomery) get some bad news. Wayne kicks something viciously and his CO says sharply and pointedly "Did that help?! Wayne answers “YES!”
