Montana is a big state, but it is supposed to be bigger. If you go out to what the geographers and politicians call the borders of Montana, you will see the landscape beyond those imaginary lines is the same as on the Montana side. That is why the county of Idaho is western Montana and the county of Wyoming is southern Montana and the counties of North and South Dakota are eastern Montana and the counties of Britishi Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan are northern Montana.
