This is the only time Peppermint Patty writes to Santa Claus.

Yep, safety first…and what a nice girl Patty to think of it…and it does not hurt to make sure you are on that nice list…maybe being closer to the top, huh ?

Seems like she should be texting the message on her smart phone in this day and age. Besides, Santa would be more likely to get it in a timely fashion that way. NO! He doesn’t leave on his trip until the 24th. So he won’t need to read it while driving.

In 1966 we didn’t even have mobile phones. The first text message wasn’t sent until 1992 and that was from a PC. So explain how Patty could text Father Xmas.

From Peppermint Patty’s first Peanuts Christmas back in 1966.

And I know Santa Claus’ sleigh always has a seat belt, and he must know all the safety precautions like all airline flights do.

I’m just glad she didn’t ask for anything…super sweet.

I don’t recall that seat belts were even THE LAW back then. The feeling was more that- if you’re smart, you wear them. If you don’t wear them, don’t say you weren’t warned. And did they have over the shoulders harness belts yet? I don’t recall them that far back.

And ypoons7666 is right. We lose a lot as we progress. We mustn’t fool ourselves into thinking that technology is all gain. There is always a trade-off.
