If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts.

We’ve had winter for a month where I live. It’s below 0F (the airport says -19C) with hard, dry snow on the ground.
Hmm. These days we have 14 shopping days left till Christmas.

No he didn’t. There was no such thing in the 60’s that I can recall.

Back to normal in 1965, and other things to remember:
15 days until Christmas
21 days until New Years Eve/the end of 2012.
22 days until New Years Day/the start of 2013.

An’ I always thought the use of “Holidays” in the plural referred to the Happy New Year holiday that followed Christmas by one week (yes – I realize that isn’t really in December).
Also note the popularity of the phrase, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”

11 days until the end of the world as we know it
(if you believe the popular apocalyptic interpretations of the Mayan calendar, that is)

Now explain why some stores order their employees not to say Christmas, as in Merry Christmas. December is pretty much about one event, and that is Christmas. Your explanation doesn’t hold water, and flies in the face of direct evidence. Good try at spinning the thing, though. Now please go back under your bridge.

The strip is too early for Festivus. Anyway…it’s for the rest of us.
