    The second and last panel are exactly the same, except for the speech bubbles.

    They are very similar but not exact. Look at the grass. Snoopy’s shadow in panel two starts further right then in panel four. The motion lines under Snoopy’s feet and around his ears are different. And of course there is the Schultz signature.

    Actually, I’d like to have seen him try it with Lucy — you never know what might actually snap her out of that bad mood she’s in, and the shock just might do it!

    The speech bubbles are exactly the same, except first has become second…

    Happiness is Lucyfer walking by without saying even a single insulting thing.

    I’m glad her crabbiness didn’t rub off on you, Snoopy.

    Actually Lucy probably needs that dance more than anyone…

    @Prof's hubbie

    Is this Peanuts or Slylock Fox’s ‘spot the 6 differences’?
    Schulz would’ve never taken shortcuts like photocopying.

    With Lucy, all she needs is Schroeder to dance merrily through the streets. (If he lets her..)

    Why not? Here especially, I think xeroxing is a good idea because the joke is exactly that: the two panels are supposed to be identical except for the word ‘second.’ shortcuts are good when they help the strip and bad when they hurt the strip. This would be the ideal time for a shortcut.

    Also, as fast as Schulz could draw, I bet xeroxing would actually take longer just in getting up from the table, trimming the paper, altering the lettering, gluing, etc., so it’s not much of a shortcut. It’s actually a better way of achieving the effect of the gag.

    An educated guess tells me it probably took Schulz approx 10 minutes to draw each frame, so it’s no big deal to do the job properly and draw each image individually.

    In my opinion, cutting corners loses its charm. Just look at Disney’s ‘Snow White’ compared to today’s CGI.
