If ever there is an iconic comic strip, it is Peanuts. What began in the funny pages in 1950 has developed into an enduring classic. Whether you're persnickety like Lucy, a philosopher like Linus, a joyous Flying Ace like Snoopy, or a lovable underdog like Charlie Brown, there is something to touch your heart or make you laugh in Peanuts.

Don’t worry Charlie. She can’t take a ball anyway. Sun or without sun.

Out of curiosity, do all the players (excluding the catcher as well as batter) face the sun?

That would depend on the geography of the area where the ball diamond is, wouldn’t it? And the time of day, of course.

What about Lucy’s hat? Doesn’t it provide shade.?

Yes….that is why a left handed pitcher, facing West into the sun, is called a “southpaw”

A Base Ball Diamond is situated so the sun is behind the batters back, as it would be dangerous to have the pitch coming with the sun in the batters eyes.

That shows you how self-absorbed Lucy really is — she can’t even recognize sarcasm when she hears it!

I feel like I have a better understanding of what’s going on at Citizen’s Bank Park.

When I was a kid in Little League, I was in only two night games. One was a championship game (we won), and the other was at a really strange field. It had lights, but no dugouts, and right field just sort of sloped away. Lots of home runs out there!

Love Charlie Brown’s sarcasm!
But as usual… It went over Lucy’s head containing her PEANUT brain.

My solution, point out that getting hit in the head with a flyball will ruin those eyes worse than a little sun. And then demonstrate by tossing the ball up so that it comes down right on top of her head.
