“Keystone will help the US maintain energy independence with little added [pollution].”

The proposed pipeline expansion would deliver Canadian oil to Louisiana refineries to be later sold on the international market. If the oil originates in Canada and doesn’t remain in the US after it’s refined, just how does it help maintain an energy independence the US doesn’t even have?

Save the environment and allow, say, one third of 7 billion people to die from starvation or exposure. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. The level of ignorance surrounding the Keystone pipeline and similar energy development is astonishing.

We had a natural gas pipeline built just south of town and finished a year ago. For three months, there were 800 workers in town, then all the businesses that were built to serve that “gold rush”, died when it petered out. Totally no jobs afterward, and many who invested based on what the company told them would be their impact on the local economy, are like Putin now, because they lost the shirts off their backs.

“After two years, once built, the pipeline would support 50 jobs.”
For this administration that would be an amazing accomplishment that’s actually beneficial to the American people.

Comeon Cons, give an actual valid argument, don’t just regurgitate false information and insults.
Tho insults are all you seem to have, and they are childish and moronic.

The Tar Sands industry is already stirring up Canada in a bad way and I can’t shake off the thought that even oil rigs in places that aren’t exactly flammable like desert and open sea still turn into infernoes from time to time. The tar sands are thousands of miles away from any city, in the pretty flammable boreal forest…and there’s only one road to get people out of there if anything goes wrong.
