So are you saying in retrospect that McCarthy was a leader ahead of his time?

joe mccarthy was an alcoholic. and, probably the only few people that have been censured by the senate. and, to those people who want ted cruz as president, he isn’t eligible. he was born in canada(foreign country with the queen of england as their head of state).

The soviet union didn’t need to ‘plant’ communists in the US government. In the usa, today, as back then, it is fine to be employed and be a member of the communist party. In the USA we do not criminalize thoughts or beliefs, we criminalize ACTIONS. And Mccarthy’s ACTIONS passed the line and were criminal, right down to his morphine addiction.

or is freedom of thought and belief a freedom you’d like to pull?

So let’s see just a couple of the lives he tried to ruin with his baseless accusations:

Lucille ball, Sir Charles Chaplin, Ruth Gordon, ALBERT EINSTEIN, counteless homosexuals.

but not HIS very own homosexual Roy Cohen. He went after nobel laureates, Nobel PRize winners as well as people who didn’t have the means and celebrity to defend themselves.

figures you’d walk out that old stuff, and praise him as a great American.

    Okay, I’ll bite.
How is Obama purposefully trying to destroy the lives of all conservatives? I recall McCarthy placed people on blacklists, and ensured they could not be hired in the US, thereby ruining their reputations. Some (like Charlie Chaplin) left the country. I don’t see any of that happening to conservatives at all.

Technology is wonderful, Waterboy gets the whole country to watch his antics live and in sound bites.
    .
The only feedback is from a close circle of admirers who tell him how wonderful and inclusive his speeches are.
    .
I think the republican party is on the wrong path.
Air time for Cruz is the single best weapon against the republicans.

Yes, and Cruz accused Chuck Hagel of “taking money from North Korea or maybe the Saudis” an outrageous slander that had precisely zero evidence. He’s a dangerous McCarthy-ite, and there is not one single thing in his career that counts him as a “good American.” Down to his complete inability to accept that elections, in America, should count for something. Americans WANT Obamacare, and proved it in the 2012 elections and in current polls.

Cruz makes “Tail Gunner Joe” look bright by comparison. When the Republicans “last years nuts”, like Peter King, are condemning Cruz, WTF!!!

BTW, Obama said he would veto anything that damaged the country, and wouldn’t “negotiate” that destruction. BOEHNER is the one who hasn’t negotiated in good faith, or just plain at all, for FIVE YEARS! It is the Repubtards willing to shut down the government with the bills THEY WRITE, so how is it Obama “shutting it down”????
