So, if you have yours, and other don’t, asking for something better than nothing is “whining?”

Yeah, those “have-nots” are always whining… “We want freedom from slavery! We want voting rights! We want equal pay for equal work! We want affordable health care!”

    DAG! It’s ALWAYS something. ALWAYS.

No we want the same thing these members of the “politburo” plan for themselves. It’s called the “Chappaquiddick” option. Planted by Ted Kennedy in the Senate bill. The members of Congress are exempt. This time its not Mary-Jo but the rest of us who are under water. A suiteable legacy for the Lion. Hope you can swim folks.

The time for universal health care is now. If the system is not honestly reformed the system will collapse under ever increasing financial burdens. It would save so much money in the long run and the security people would have with universal health care would be the most liberating program since medicare was brought about. Say what you will about LBJ but he knew how to get congress to pass medicare. Obama had better take the gloves off and get the private option passed.

And have you noticed, the “LION” wants state law changed just for him so the ‘crat governor can ANOINT a ‘crat replacement.
Some states have that law. Illinois comes to mind. BUT the grand old bastion of democracy Massachusetts law says: ELECT the replacement.

Is Ted afraid a GOP candidate might win? I’m sure the law will be changed before anyone reads this post because of the dictatorship of the left.

My brother worked in “private industry”, but never on anything but government contracts- he had great benefits-paid for indirectly by taxpayers- every nickel- now he’s been pushed by those “private insurers” to medicare as primary, just like me as of three months ago.

It isn’t just those without insurance, but those who may LOSE theirs, or are not covered by decent policies they can afford, settling for much less- and it’s about standardizing, and reducing- costs across the industry- that is reform.

My brother spent his life condemning all that was “government”, and depending on it for his job. Now he’s in hospital with strokes suffered a couple days ago, and we’re waiting to see if he will have any function left, or be a zucchini. Either way, it is now government(tax) dollars that will actually pay for his care if he survives.

Arguing against making that, and the care of others, as available, and cost-effective as possible, is using a zucchini brain trust.

    Bio:

    age: 59 yrs
    citizen: USA
    resident: Netherlands

I recently had to go to a doctor for an acute condition. Doctor said, “Just come now.” Number waiting ahead of me: ONE. Time waiting: before I could flip through a magazine. Time with doctor: about 25 minutes, every symptom reviewed thoroughly. Quality of diagnosis and treatment: comparable to or better than USA (less chance of mistakes with longer attention). Copay cost: $0 Two prescriptions given. Copay cost: $0.

Health insurer in NL: Turien, B.V. (PRIVATE)
annual premium: about $1,150 (depending on the latest weakness of the dollar)
no preconditions, no exams, NO chance of cancellation

If the Netherlands can do that with private insurers, and there is no fear of getting kicked out on some technicality, and the premium is manageable, why can’t the USA adopt something like this that works?

The puppets of the insurance companies should cut their strings and become human.

oldie, I guess the “dictatorship of the left” has not yet bumped your comments off. And it’s been over 3 hours! Whoopie! Why don’t you just admit it- the public option makes sense. Look at Atma’s post, look at the most intelligent, reasoned posts on these listings- they are written by liberals with brains and good hearts.

    Hey!
I was so,shall we say animated, by Mr. Szep’s astute observation that my “Old School” friends and myself indulged in a very collosal shouting match. Not at all in the negative. We were all saying the same thing. This son-of -a-bee got it right. How come the rest of this country can’t see through the gauze? We shouted each other down before we realized we are on the same side. Therein lies the dichotomy of the sitution.

Obama’s chasing more tails than his own in this respect. Being a die hard liberal he has blinders to the fact that the very left wing Kennedys were led by one of the most, if not THE most, corrupt political enterpreneurs of the last century. Look at the record. And now the lecherous Ted is crying from his deathbed for all good ass-kissing, government mongering, socialist flunkys, and associated hangers-on; to make sure his seat is filled before an election can be held. No political significance here? Oh , It’s just the Chappaquidick skin diver spending another eight hours contemplating the good of his constituents.

And the GOP ain’t no prize in the serious situation we face. It’s called get your subsatatial glutteals in gear. This country needs powerul decision making leaders. Not a rack of pansy assed fat cats who can only claim the best tee- times. What are you ,NEW?

I digress. This issue is being spun so hard by the administration , and confused with issues abroad we should distance ourselves from, that we “The People” are doing just the right thing. The media is slanting the town hall meetings as being overt. YO! ALL YOU MEDIA JERK-OFFS! Read your history. This is the basis on which this country was founded.

I think it’s time to turn things over to town hall meetings. Poll them you media mavens. Do some research.

How about some real journalism? Stop making news. Report objectively.(therin lies a thought) DUH!

Alas, probably a challenge that will be un-answered. At least in my lifetime.

Sorry to sound so negative, but with icons like; Paris,Lindsay,Brittany,Boy George, others too numerous to mention, MichaelJackson, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson(?),{What does he actually do for a living?) Tupac,(the guy’s dead) et.al., No wonder our stock in trade worldwide has diminished to almost nil. (France notwithstanding).

I’m through for now. [More tirade to follow.]

Kennedy is asking for a change in a 2004 law he helped get passed to prevent then-Gov. Mitt Romney from appointing a Republican replacement had Sen. John Kerry won the presidency over George W. Bush. When a Republican was governor, Kennedy supported special elections. Under a Democratic governor, he prefers gubernatorial appointments.

Kennedy is evil, and I mean that. Sad, Mitt was starting to get real close in the poles and Kennedy basically goes out and says – I can bring more money to Mass than he can; vote for me. People realized he was actually right, so based on that, and little else, he gets reelected due to the powerbase that he built up over the years. He’s the poster child for term limits.

Atma, appreciated your post. Lou Dobbs program has been running a look at healthcare systems in 20 other countries, as reported by Kitty Pilgrim. Some successful ones are a mix of public and private options, just as is being proposed.

And ALL of them spend far less of their GNP on healthcare costs than the USA, they spend far less on healthcare costs per person, and many have better outcome rates than the US. It’s a good series.
