If HOW ZIT can’t tell the difference it could be that he is so used to kissing… Oh, never mind. What HOWIE kisses is his business.

I don’t get it either. And if you don’t immediately get a political cartoon, that means the cartoon is not up to snuff.

BHO turned his back on America in Cairo

Drew the same conclusion as Oldie, but found it offensive, because it was interpreting facts 180 out. It was Bush 41, in ‘91, who stood by and in fact encouraged Saddam to invade Kuwait because it was an “Arab to Arab thing”, in which we wouldn’t interfere, until Thatcher cornered him after the gross error while at Camp David to point out he was an idiot. We’ve been at “war” ever since ‘91, either repeating, or making up for all the errors made back then.

The only way America can lead is not through threats (just like Kim’s), but through open dialogue, and true leadership.

I’d rather see the cartoon as the people standing behind a man of intellect, to back him up as we finally step away from hate, and accept responsibility for the progress of humanity.

Is the viewer sitting behind Obama as he delivers his talk? – in which case we’d get the same view as we would with Shrub or even Geo Washington. And it makes little sense, if Obama is indeed turning his back on “us,” to include as “us” all the folks who voted for him. Conclusion? He’s turning his back on a narrow strip of reactionaries in order to turn his face toward the rest of the world.

Good start at reasonable dialog folks. Keep it up.

you know what I really would like? for someone who believes that Obama DID turn his back on America to explain, in clear, specific language, why he believes that to be so … and state specific reasons …. no general denunciations of Obama allowed … what specifically did he say that “turned his back on America”

i would really like to understand your points of view

Fuzzy-headed and backwards describes BHO’s Cairo speech perfectly. He has no idea how much cost and suffering his irresponsible, spendthrift policies have inflicted on ordinary, working people around the world. Americans buy and import from the rest of the world much more than we export. Those people in the Third World who depend on American and other businesses for their livelihood and very survival will suffer far worse consequenses than anyone in the West. But then his political agenda is, apparently, more important than people. It certainly is not benefiting anyone other than the tax dodgers and other slimeballs on his administrative team. They make Bush ‘43 and his cronies look like candidates for Sainthood.

moosegirl, what did he say that upsets you, specifically. What words? your post doesn’t add anything to trying to understand your point?

HEY I DIDN’T WIN so i hate that “N” In the white house, and I hope America fails. He wasn’t even born here. So I just kept my mouth shut while bush ran the country into the ground. Because I was happy to see a republican destroy the country, cause that’s what I really want is the country to fail. and in that way bush was doing a bleeep good job, Right ? . So let’s get together, and do our best to finish off America, Cause then we can say WE WERE RIGHT, CAUSE THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS. RIGHT ?

senorbullwinkle: you are either wise beyond your years in your demonstration of a profound and insightful analysis of the American sociopolitical environment, or you are a screamin’ nutcase; I can’t decide which.

It’s a metaphorical mirror. Each reader interprets it based on his hopes, fears, and intellect.

The mesasge is clear: when it comes to Obama’s efforts toward peace in the Middle East, America is behind him (as in “backing him up and following his lead”).
