What is that book Lady Liberty is holding? Oh yeah….
    The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law)………………………………………………………,;
That’s right, we are a nation of laws and for it to work, those that break the law(illegal aliens) must be held responsible.

The richest nation in the world screams at women and children, “USA, we won’t pay!”

I have seen posts on here by you where I think you consider yourself a Christian (although I might have you confused with another ultra conservative, there are so many of you here, if so then perhaps you should ignore me). Then think on this great truth, all of us that make it to heaven are going to be extreme illegals. With the exception of Christ himself, no man has EVER been able to even come close to obeying God’s Laws for human beings (of course, that certainly includes myself). So, if God would have us be law abiding citizens then none of us would ever be able to be there at all!

It is only because of the love of Christ and his sacrifice to fulfill his Father’s Law that we will be there. But in the strictest sense we will all be illegal aliens. So where are your laws then?

    Partly?

The words of ‘The New Colossus’ were only meaningful from 1903 (when the plaque was first put up) until 1921 when the US FINALLY (after more than 70 years) adopted the platform of the Know Nothing Party, and ever since, being devout Know Nothings has been the platform of both the major American parties.

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses, yearning to breath free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

Then I suggest we prosecute all those who encourage illegal aliens to come into this country: the job creators.

If companies wouldn’t hire them, they wouldn’t be here, now would they?

How about some suggestions on how to solve the problem. The conservatives (who tell us how religious they are) would deport 12 million people and put all those kids on trucks and dump them in the public square in Guatemala. Not exactly practical or smart solutions to a real problem They want to discourage immigrants but they won’t pass a law that requires businesses to make sure their employees are legal residents. I guess that is because it would cut into profits too much and they might miss a mortgage payment on their mansion.

Actually, Christ came to overturn the law and to make the path to righteousness through him and not obeying specific acts as in Jewish law, so he wasn’t asking us to be law-abiding.

And he said, “Give unto Caesar what is Caesars,” so he wasn’t really interested in citizenship, either.

So, pretty much if you are a Christian and read the Bible much you’ll understand that Christ and God aren’t that much interested in how the government works or what laws are passed or whether we’re citizens or not — Christians should be concerned with how they, themselves act and feel and relate to God.

Not saying that’s what I believe or don’t believe, just saying.

The statue and its motto were also made during a time when we did not have immigration laws, and it is also not a law unto itself.

Times change, we run out of land and resources, and stuff is different.

I mean, we also have statues proclaiming the greatness of the Confederacy, and no one expects us to live up to that. Well, not many.

Either I’m missing a satirical note to your post, or you’re reading more into that than is there. The statue faces the harbor. If the harbor faced south, so would the statue.

The walls worked in Israel. After they went up, suicide bombings dropped 99 percent. Put walls on our southern border that stops 99 percent of the illegals entering our country and then maybe we can talk about what to do with the illegals already here. Without secure borders, talk of legal and illegal citizens is meaningless. The United States as an entity will cease to exist.

There are already laws for employers. The problem is that there are only limited methods for verifying citizenship documents and those methods take a long time. It gets all tangled up with privacy law requirements.
