Stuff him and put him on exhibit in the Smithsonian as a Tea Party Senator. Place him between a Whig and a Federalist.

@Ruff, release Dr. C and Ahab.

I’d have to say he’s scratching, but it kinda looks like he’s pinching his own bottom.

@Ruff, release Dr. C and Ahab.

He has a firm grip on his own, rather peculiar reality.

“The House of Representatives cannot only refuse, but they alone can propose, the supplies requisite for the support of government. They, in a word, hold the purse, that powerful instrument by which we behold … an infant and humble representation of the people gradually enlarging the sphere of its activity and importance, and finally reducing, as far as it seems to have wished, all the overgrown prerogatives of the other branches of the government. This power over the purse may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.”

I bet anyone on this board any money in my pocket against any money in their pocket that Ted Cruz will FILIBUSTER any deal, any deal, between the Senate Dems and the GOP. He WILL drag this out to it’s fruitful ending (in his mind): the economic collapse of the United States (which will be followed by the social collapse, the military collapse, the civil collapse and so on)!

Don’t you see what these people really try to do? They want to destroy the federal government in order to be able to “secede” from the Union the hard way! Look at how several national parks are funded right now: by the states! That’s their endgame. They want to balkanize America, because then they can be little kings in their fiefdoms, repeal the Constitution, reinstate slavery, treat woman like cattle and so on.

There is, however, one thing they didn’t think of: the United States has nuclear weapons, West Virginia doesn’t! So go ahead, split your country from north to south and east to west and then again, the Russians and Chinese are just waiting for it. Maybe I myself and five guys with BB-guns will set out to conquer Rhode Island and become a legitimate – although small – tyrant finally…

And I really, really hope you are smart enough to know that the Federalist papers are in no way binding law, but the aspirational, thinking out loud of various people as they stumbled toward democracy. This is not law, nor acceptable behavior. Even this statement does not justify the parliamentary trickery and bullying employed by the Tea Party. They are cowards, not patriots.

No, they don’t want to secede. They want to crash the government so they can go back to the pre-New Deal robber baron Gilded Age. A few billionaires, like the Koch Bros. and Adelson want to get rid of the pesky aspects of the government that protect the rights of average Americans so they can pillage with impunity. No EPA, no SEC, no NLRB. But it’s suicidal, if we default the whole world goes. They are also distracting us from dealing with climate change which will finish us all off unless we quit this childishness and grow up and deal with our problems.

All in all, that’s a rather sound – if slightly over-inflated – analysis of the potential outcome of Teabaghead success. The only problem there is, of course, the nature of the Teabagheads themselves. Few, if any, have the ability to actually assimilate, comprehend, or even “stick to” an overall plan, as is easily discernible by reading the postings here. Just sample the daily changes in User Name among the most vocal – if least intelligent – who are seen regularly.

There are places where a current bit of success in regressing to pre-Constitutional status appears to have been achieved, such as North Carolina, for instance. But, in the end, even there, the “achievements” of Teabagheadism are ephemeral; as it is almost as certain as the sun rising in the East in the morning that, there will be future Supreme Court Cases, and future Supreme Court Decisions, that will restore the Union there.

In reality, the Palin, Bachmann, Cruz, Bawling Baby, et. al. “syndrome” is beginning to prove itself to be another “flash in the pan” – among many previous ones in American history. A BAD joke is, after all, a BAD joke; even if the stand-up comedian does get a laugh from time to time.
