    Boehner and McConnell are trying to blame the shutdown on Democrats.
    -
    Does this mean that shutting down the government is a bad thing?

    Putting country over politics
    Don’t you wish that this kind of person existed here? Instead of people who are so sure they are right and all others are wrong (the Tea Party types) or that they may lose their position of power (such as it is) to someone else (Boehner vs. Cantor, for example). I have seen “liberals” (as designated by the Right) admit to not having all the answers or possibly being wrong about some point or another, but I’ve seen dam’ few Righties make such an admission. I think this is why you all think that the science people here are such dorks, etc. We know we may be wrong (because all of us at some point or another were wrong about something). But this is in fact the hallmark of a liberal, You know you want the best for the society, but you also know that your take on it may not be the best, so you want to hear what other options are out there. It would be so postive if you all could come to the point that words like “always”, “never”, "all"’ “none” are not useful terms.

    After taking hostages and making demands that are not met, a few hostages are killed.
    Victims are blamed for not meeting demands.
    .
    The incurred debt ceiling is the dead hostage.
    That is really going to hurt, no way around it.
    We are forcing them to do this, the hostage takers do not wish to be evil, but they are left no choice.
    .
    See, it is not their fault, this strategy is thoroughly thought out.
    After the shutdown there is nowhere to turn.

    You mean the same plan as RomneyCare? Who was the 2012 Republican nominee?

    Fun with statistics:
    Congress as a whole has an approval rating of <10%.
    Each individual Congresscritter has a rating of >50%.

    @mskemple

    You know, mskemple, I have felt exactly this way about several of your recent posts, but I didn’t lace into you about them. You say you have a quirky sense of humor…well, sometimes that quirkiness comes across as downright mean. I’ve taken a lot of nastiness from the right wing anti-science crew, so maybe you should re-read my post without preconceived agenda active. I would be very happy just to have people realize that no one has all the answers, but I’m not seeing that from many who post here. BTW, “liberal” actually does not include all those on the so-called Left, any more than “conservative” includes all those on the Right.
