This is Sad. Payne got it right today Romeny wants to kill your wife and Ryan wants to kill Grandma. Now here they want to make an issue that for the moment Ryan has the spot light. It will last what a week?

    The right is desperate.

    “The Crass Menagerie.”
Once again, Oliphant shows that nobody can touch him visually.

Romney doesn’t keep his Freudian slips in his off-shore accounts, just his money.

This is brilliant illustration in black and white but I can’t help wishing it was in color.

He’s so young and handsome. Aren’t these the most important qualities in a Veep pick? And what great ideas he has! Cut the capital gains tax to 0% and replace Medicare with a voucher program. Sorry, your voucher won’t cover heart surgery but your plan will pay for a sticker of a smiley face to put over your chest…

Pat discredits the knowledge of animals, and insults them.

Ahab, who are these ‘conservatives’, and who did they want Romney to pick?
    Christie? Jindal? Pawlenti?

Oliphant just wouldn’t be the same in colour! The
    b&w is half the impact.

Does Romney think this will energize the “right to life trumps everything” crowd and overshadow the fact that conservative Christians don’t think Mormons are “Christian” at all? On the other hand, it may be that the Republican controllers have decided they are better off kicking Obama around for another four years, than dealing with “being in charge” when everything falls apart due to Republican mismanagement. A Tea Party Congress and Mitt at the helm (Ryan a heartbeat away)… God(?) help us!!

I think your analysis is closest to the truth. I’ve never seen a primary campaign like the one the Republicans had this go round. Some darling that wasn’t Romney would rocket to the top in polling, only to plummet once more was learned about them when the spotlight turned to them. Romney won the nomination after all of the other candidates flamed out, not because he was really wanted.

His choice of Ryan is definitely exciting the GOP base, but I can’t see how it’s going to appeal to seniors, Hispanics, minorities in general or the youth. Why didn’t he do what most candidates do once they’ve won the nomination and move more toward the center? I think it’s because he knows that he still needs to consolidate his base rather than assume they will turn out to vote for him in November. I can see why Republicans that are thinking strategically would not be happy with his choice.

This is a great insult to crocodiles, gorillas and the rest of the bunch. They wouldn’t be caught dead in the company of those 2 idiots.

    A brilliant Oliphant cartoon.
This pick added zeal to the base, but reaffirmed how bland and uninspiring Romney is. The Koch Bros must know that what this is all about now is Ryan 2016.
