(psst, not just US troops marching towards their hearts & minds, NATO too. Unless things go horribly wrong in which case you can own it all. Oh, it is already going wrong? Oh bugger, all yours then, bye!)

It really isn’t that obvious as to what is going to happen. Clearly this is the war we should have completed in 2003- 2004. what I am most disgusted about is that the administration is lacking any verve to fight fire with fire against the Republicans and the right wingers. This is the actual war were going to lose in 2012.

The resolution on Oliphant’s cartoons has been horrible lately. Can’t read what the little… whatever that is down in the corner has to say.

“Pardon me - could you direct me to the hearts and minds of the Afghan people?”
And the little “whatever” is Punk the Penguin. (He tried out to replace Opus once in Bloom County when the characters went on strike.)

We should get Usama and split the reward. $25 million.

For those readers on this thread who have never been there, Afghanistan, I can report, is a country inhabited by people much like yourselves, not a gaping maw whose only function is to gobble up US/NATO/quasi-NATO (e g, Swedish, Finnish) soldiers. You wouldn’t want them coming home to you to tell you what to do, so why not leave them to govern themselves and associate with them as equals. WARNING : I am not responsbile for any heart attacks, strokes, injuries from falling off chairs, etc, occasioned by my assumption that Afghanis are as good as you are and every bit as entitled to the government of their choice, without the aid of your - and my - troops. If you are medically insured, take such problems up with your insurers ; if not with your politicians….
