   And should the extremists win and beat the protesters, given the lack of moral support from our Chief, His Indecisiveness (that the U.S. shouldn’t be a “foil”, that we shouldn’t “meddle”; Had his mentality replaced the cool thinking of FDR, then I’m glad my gran’ma, a Litvak, made it out of Europe decades ago, and thus escaped being a lampshade), why should they be given the go ahead to have nuclear capabilities, let alone the ability to build nuclear power plants? Does Obama actually think that the Khameini regime will govern itself, and with reason, if only he can talk to them? His reticence to openly defend the protesters, to be on the right side of history, like Reagan did in ‘81 in defending the Polish, his isolationism, a dead as a dodo conservative principle, reminds one of Sen. Ham Fish, Sr. during World War II: “Don’t get involved! Don’t get involved!” May Khameini face the same end as Ciacescu and his wife, I say!

   The actual point of the “signing” is relevant to Israel as well, plus all the nations seeking nuke power. Fusion would be a great replacement for fission- no plutonium byproduct- there is though that minor problem of blowing up the planet if the containment fails.

   Lanier, what exactly do you expect Obama to do? Take our overstretched army and invade Iran? Why? Because we say so? That worked so well in Iraq!
   And by the way, you’re doubly out of date. Obama did make a statement before, he’s made a stronger one today:
   “I’d like to say a few words about the situation in Iran. The United States and the international community have been appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings, and imprisonments of the last few days. I strongly condemn these unjust actions, and I join with the American people in mourning each and every innocent life that is lost.”
   There’s more, but that’s a sample. Now, are you going to admit that he has provided moral support? Or are you just going to find another reason to beat on him?

   Jason, you may know our troops protected Iran in the not too recent past. I know a few vets who served protecting Iran territory from Iraq . Mr Cheney even visited shaking hands with Saddam and helping to set up their oil wells. So go back and reread a few old newspapers in the library and skip the Fox news, you might wake to the fact that President Obama really is a wonderful step in the right direction.

    Well done! A mess of religious fanatics in the mid-east dressed in political garb pretending to be playing a game the U.S. calls democracy.

    About a couple comments: The oddity of the nuclear thing is that Obama is promoting Iran to have nuclear energy while saying we in the states should not. Obama’s statement shown above has the cadence of the aftermath of a street fight in Chicago. You have to admit, it’s pretty weak stuff.

    To jason and the lack of involvement and ahab’s “wonderful step”: It probably is best that we keep out of this. Obama may be right about this. We’ve got our own problems and we should let the folks in Iran work this out however they wish. We just better be prepared for whatever aftermath follows.
