Why is Oliphant picking on the WWI Prussians? I know he couldn’t use the Nazis (too overexposed) but couldn’t he use Torquemada or a collection of rogues or a stereotypical dungeon master?
Anyway, Cheney, Bybee, Yoo, and Gonzales will eventually be prosecuted. We should let the wheels of the Justice Department work some more before indictments are served.

Oh the hypocrisy of it all. President Obama has said, “America does not torture.” But then he let his CIA chief keep an escape clause that said if America ever needs to use water-boarding again, that would be okay and can be reviewed.
Hmmm…now why would he do that?

This is one area where we’ll have to hold his feet to the fire.

Oh no! We can’t hold his feet to the fire, that’s torture! We have to do the opposite of torture! So what’s the opposite of “feet to the fire”? Hmm….the opposite of feet is head, and the opposite of fire is water, so….hold his head under water? Damn!

Yikes! I thought that was Rumsfeld!
I agree with LLeRay that the Imperial Prussian officer is not the best bystander. He’s a good icon for rampant militarism, but this is a whole ‘nuther level of sinister.

attyush; I agree, Obama should be a new start and stop that torture.

Sooky Rottweiler says;
I don’t know who you are calling Bybee, but it’s an insult to my doggy girlfriend! Her name is Beebee, she’s a goldendoodle. She may be a b!tch, but she doesn’t torture.
GRRRRRRRR…..

I can’t believe that Cheney has the f*(king balls to say “well, it worked.”
IT’S ILLEGAL PEOPLE! WE HUNG JAPANESE SOLDIERS THAT DID THIS* TO OUR SOLDIERS IN WWII!!!
“I broke the law… go F yourself America!”

Despite what Gonzales and Cheney thought, the Justice Department is supposed to be independent of the executive branch and prosecute according to the evidence. Obama won’t push prosecution, but it technically isn’t really his choice to make.

BZZZT! Thank you for playing! What nice consolation prizes do we have for LLR, johnny?
In fact, Justice is, very specifically, a part of the Executive Branch, and the President does have that sort of authority, though, as provided by the Constitution, it may be subject to review by the Judicial Branch.
