Not enough for Stevens but maybe a little harsh for Lieberman

Lieberman, if he would sell out his friends and his party, he would sell out his country. What is the word for that? Oh yes, treason. Let him stay in the trash where he belongs.

Lieberman did not sell out any one. He stood up for what he believed was(is) right. That is patriotism. As for Stevens, just imitating his liberal friends but not as covertly.

To really know if Lieberman was a traitor or a patriot, we’d need to know that was inside his head; opportunism or country.
We’ll never know for sure but according to sooky’s nose, it doesn’t smell good.

Traitor maybe too extreme, more like back stabbing Judas.

Lieberman campaigned actively and heavily for the other party, and repeatedly undercut the direction of his own party in Congress. Why should he expect to retain his leadership in the party he abandoned? It’s pretty simple, folks. And oldie, the remark about Stevens is just nasty, and it ain’t true. The Bushies have been vastly more corrupt than any Democratic _or_ Republican administration this century. If you don’t believe that, take a look at Halliburton.

UN-believable.
I suppose this is the new, enlightened, tolerant, progressive, inclusive, freedom-loving, brave new world being ushered in by the Obamabots, eh?
And it sounds like this: “If you didn’t vote for Obama, you’re a traitor and, oh yeah, a jerk, too. If you didn’t vote for your party’s guy, who KNOWS what else you’d do - probably eat little babies alive.”
As for Oliphant, this cartoon shows him to be both puerile and a creep. “Sharp”? “Daring?” You gotta be kidding! How about “gratuitous, cheap and mindless”?
As for the comments here from the people ready to crucify Lieberman for (gasp, horror) voting for the Senate colleague he’s known and respected perhaps for longer than some of these commenters have been alive, all I can say is: you’re dolts. Worse, you’ve got all the makings of a mob.
Piling on is so easy. It’s what they did in Germany, too, on Kristallnacht.
Congratulations.

You just got back from your 2 year trip to lobotomy land? You do know who Stevens and Lieberman are?
Just asking.

kensears - evidently you are doing the Republican trick of exaggeration to the point of absurdity. I don’t suggest he do anything but be removed from the positions he received due to Democratic seniority. Considering that Republicans have openly called Democrats “traitors,” and Cheney basically said that if anyone voted for Kerry there would be another 9/11, not to mention all the “the terrorists will win” remarks, this is mild indeed. But the American people saw through the crapfest this time, bless ‘em.

Liebermann = Voted most likely to represent the majority of Connecticut voters than the guy the Democratic machine put up.
Simon_Jester said, about 1 year ago
NoFearPup…Lieberman was elected with a little help from 72% of the registered Republican voters.
So much for Representing the Dems.

Now we know why he’s in the trashcan! Everyone in Connecticut - listen up Pelosti and Reek have a problem wit’ you! Better fall in line…
motivemagus said, about 1 year ago
NoFearPup - once again, you’re missing the point. Lieberman can stay in the Senate, because he won the votes of the electorate. But he should NOT retain the influence he gained as part of the Democratic party, because he clearly isn’t a member now based on his own actions. Reverse the parties. If four years ago a senior Senator with committee chairmanships had claimed to be a Republican and had voted with Obama and Hillary, you’d probably be frothing at the mouth to have him removed.
