Will she get a lifeline? Can she phone a friend if she gets in trouble on Thursday?

Palin is the Dan Quayle of this election. If you recall, the righties thought Danny-boy was the greatest and fell all over themselves saying how he was up for the job. Fortunately, he was never promoted.
This time there is a serious PROBABILITY that she would have her finger on the button by the end of the first term. Nuclear winter, anyone?

Remember bumbling Bush beat both Gore and Kerry in debates.

S J, it seem as though we’re watching different programming. Today I saw a CNN International comment made stateing don’t be so set on the VP debates, “remember the results of the Kerry Bush debates, Kerry took the debates but Bush won the election”. On Gore, I wasn’t in the US then and only saw very short clips.

Don’t misunderestimate her —
she won’t be studying up on anything but talking points and sound bites ‘n’ snarls …
But unlike Bush, she can’t just stand there and, by not answering, look Vice Presidential.

Folks, it’s all about expectations. Gore was expected to be smart, so when he was caught sighing (the mike was supposed to be off), people thought he was mean. Bush was supposed to be an idiot, so when he produced full sentences, they declared victory. Competence wasn’t the issue – they were being graded on the curve. Gore was supposed to be smart, so anytime he tripped over a word, somehow that was interpreted as making him look bad.
Bill Clinton is probably smarter than both of them put together, but people didn’t see him as a brainiac because of his style. For whomever it was who compared Clinton to Palin in terms of experience – Clinton was an international affairs wonk going back to college – part of which he spent overseas. In his last week as President he got asked a question about Chad (or someplace like that) and was apparently spellbinding on the geopolitical ramifications of Chad, unrehearsed and off-the-cuff, for an hour.
Both sides are trying to position like mad: the Democrats are saying Palin “has an advantage,” and the Republicans are preparing to make Biden look mean if he calls Palin out on her ineptitude. Welcome to the spin zone.

Maybe Palin can get a receiver like Bush had on under his coat during the debates.

Palin was suprisingly prepared at the debate.
