Just the ones that should be filed under “things men should not be so arrogantly ignorant about”. Llewellyn has probably read C.S. Lewis and passed the Narnia books to Ozy.

I tend to think his coloring would be more like Mallory from the “Duncan and Mallory” series…

    re: simpsonfan2
Taliban? Since when do Christians do acts of terror? or are ordered to do so?
I don’t recall any verses in the Bible like the 100+ verses like this in the Koran:
“5:33) The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides”
“8:5) So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.”
An apology is in order, Simpsonfan, for the thousands of Christians who read this strip and have to put up with the casual day to day slanders. That wasn’t funny, nor called for.

Oklahoma City was a pretty big act of terror, perpetrated by Christians. Or are you too young to remember that one?

Should I list all the murders by White Supremacists (who are undeniably Christians) that have happened in the last few years?

Actually, Llewellyn DOES bear a slight resemblance to one of the dragons mentioned in the Book of Revelations.

What never ceases to amaze me tho’ is how any time you take a shot at the far-right, fundamentalist-evangelical crowd, someone always calls it an attack on ALL Christians.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Troubles was Catholic vs Protestant, including thousands of terrorist bombings.

If you want to divide by religion and assess capacity for terrorism by each, I am afraid none of the Abrahamic faiths are going to have a clean slate. :-(

You might have better luck with the Buddhsts or the Bahai.

I didn’t know that Llewellyn was red. I take it that dragons are not common in this universe?

I would suggest you re-read Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua… you will find far more than 100 verses commanding that people be executed for sins ranging from idolatry to mixing two kinds of fiber in the same cloth. You will also find commands to exterminate all the inhabitants of the land the Israelites are entering (indeed, you will also find in the book of Samuel that the specific reason given for Saul being removed as Israel’s king is that he failed to completely exterminate one group of enemies). As a free bonus, you will also find (in the story of Samson, one of the great heroes of the OT) the origin of the suicide bomber (true, he used muscle power rather than high explosive, but that’s what they had in those days). And since the OT is included by reference in the Christian Bible, you’re kinda stuck with these nasty bits.

True, between these bloody instructions you will also find such passages as “thou shalt not kill,” “love your neighbor as yourself,” “do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God,” and so forth. But the same can be said of the Koran.

It would appear that morality in action is left as an exercise for the student.

I am glad to see others jump on Nebu before I did.
A terrorist is not defined by the religion or nationality or political affiliation.
He/She is defined by the actions taken or willing to take.
I being trained in what I have would be considered a terrorist just depending on who I am going up against. The “enemy” I am a terrorist. To my country “hero”.

Not that common but not all that rare either ( I can’t say more without it becoming a spoiler. ). I always thought Llew was patterned after the dragon on the Welsh flag

Even Buddhism has had its militant sects. Take any ideology people are willing to die for, and it’s a short jump to being willing to kill for it.

tsk tsk Mr. S. Crusades just a couple in a long series of only-world-capitol-is-Jerusalem, that goes way back beyond Roman times. Gotta admit Christian armies were great recruiting slogan. Salem Witch Trials STOPPED by the puritains outside Salem who found the local courts had been infested by the "I’m gonna get you back for that barking dog’’ syndrome, and plenty of vindictive women who loved watching the neighbors go down. KKK isn’t Christian tho they borrow a pile of the symbols, Nazis? now really, they were anti any church.
Don’t see any Christians in the OLD Testament either, seems to have ended centuries before John Baptiste entered the scene. Your history books should pay more attention to original documents.
Trouble has always been the big power is always at the belief level. Control the belief and you have all the power.
