I rely on my faded blue belt in ambivalence, though I usually wish I had a shovel.

‘Beware … I know karate, kung-fu… twai con do … and at least six other Japanese words!’
(Okay, I’m sure they’re not all Japanese words …but that’s how I always heard the joke.)

Forget the belt; get an attack cat.

No! Don’t purr at the attacker, kitty. No! Don’t go to sleep, kitty! Wake up. Protect us!

Yeah. He guessed that. And so is Tai Kwan Do, but the joke is still funny.

Bruno acknowledged they may not all be Japanese, but that is how the joke goes. Apparently what you lack in comprehension and reading skills you make up for in condescension and arrogance. So who really is the “Einstein?” I’d say certainly not you.

I heard it as “I know………and six other dangerous sounding Japanese words.” So the joke has many iterations. The point being it’s a joke, not a literal assertion that all the words or all the different martial arts listed are Japanese in origin.

I took it as a person trying to prove they were smarter than everyone else by completely and totally missing the point, thereby showing they really weren’t as smart as they thought they were. Sheldon Cooper can pull it off, that’s his personality, socially clueless but technically brilliant. Sheldon Cooper Josh isn’t.
