Over the Hedge, created by T Lewis and Michael Fry, takes a freshly skewed look at suburban living from the perspective of the animals who lived there first. The strip stars RJ, a mischievous raccoon, and Verne, his sensitive best-buddy turtle. Together they fight to save their wooded wonderland from the evils of encroaching suburbia but end up becoming distracted by wide-screen TVs, discarded fast food containers and the fun of wreaking havoc on the local homeowners' association.

People already do that with the hoses at the gas pumps, constantly.

get a kick out of the claim of using 110v for an electric car. Even using the entire 100 or 150 amp service for the car is going to take days to charge 2000 or more amp-hours’ worth of batteries (anywhere from 2200 to 6000 amp hours are required to charge 2000 amp hours of batteries, depending upon type). And the faster the batteries are charged, the less long they will last due to heat.

Are filler stations going to offer recharging and if so, how long is it going to take. Or are electric cars going to be for relatively short trips only.

Think of all the carbon emissions you are preventing……oops think of all the carbon emissions it takes to make the electricity to recharge the battery.

Many diesel vehicles come with block heaters to keep the engine warm on cold nights. (A cold diesel is hard to start.) They rarely last long because the driver forgets to unplug the heater before driving away.

@olfart
Around here, all cars have block heaters.(Canada). Starting any car in -20 F. is hard.
I’ve heard that if you drive to one of the warmer states… they’ll ask you about your electric car!

Think of the environmental devastation in making the battery. Sorry Prius pukes you’re not really saving the planet one mile at a time.

In a pure EV heat is provided by an electric heater an in almost all hybrids A/C is provided by an electrically driven compressor. Hybrid/EV batteries must be kept cool. Repairing the A/C is not an option, the hybrid will shut down in a very short distance if the A/C is not working.

Don’t worry, Hammie. We will NEVER run out of the “Old Stupid”!

Wasn’t that an old song by The Who?
“Meet the new stupid. Same as the old stupid”?

Wait til the batteries have to be replaced and the old ones have to be “recycled,” a very spendy scenario.

I have a Nissan LEAF and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned (and that’s quite a few). No gas, little if any maintenance, a smooth and quiet ride. Don’t bad mouth a technology without having some knowledge about it.
