They should be happy it’s not something particularly torturous. Adult Contemporary X-Mas music or the Barny theme song.

I like “Jam Up, Jelly Down”, which by the way, is not sung by the Archies.

I joke to my wife about what would happen if she were abducted because of her medical history – a bone marrow transplant gave her a y-chromosome, making her genetically male, she had a hysterectomy due to the radiation, so female on the outside, but male genetics and no uterus. I imagine the alien abducter turning to his superior and saying “are you sure these things are working correctly? The readings are way off!”

It’s the songs subject matter not who’s performing it.

As a young boy, I once had “Puff, the Magic Dragon” stuck in my head on a three-day car trip. I had no idea of the drug overtones in the lyrics. I think I associated it more with Cecil, the Sea-sick Sea Serpent.

1964. Just out of the Army. Philadelphia Opera House. Peter, Paul, and Mary concert. Female half of audience singing along to “Puff …” Pretty much the first time I felt like killing a bunch of people.
