    Are you Canadian by chance? The Yupik in Alaska don’t like to be called Inuit, but generally don’t mind the term “Eskimo” as a catchall for Inuit and Yupik. The raw meat thing is a bit of a folk etymology anyway. Even if true, I doubt the Algonquin meant it to be insulting.
