Shells usually travel about 100 feet vertically for every inch they are in diameter; depending on the angle they are fired from.
    The largest shells are 36".
The ship probably uses 8-12" shells, which are the largest “consumers” can buy, which would have a MAXIMUM of 1200 vertical, if shot straight up. Most are shot at an angle between 45 and 80 degrees.
