‘Lapdog’ – any dog too heavy to shift out of your lap once he’s plonked himself there . . .

Anyone can change it – or make pages, saying Allan VanderSpek is worth $10,000,000 (thus allowing me to get a $1,000,000 Line of Credit) but that doesn’t work … I’ve tried.

Labs are not natural lapdogs. But if they’re being constantly picked up an cuddled as puppies, they can become lapdogs. A dog like Louie, who’s been coddled all his life, expects nothing less.

Yes it is annoying to find information in Widipedia only to go back later and find it’s been removed or altered. But Wikipedia is limited in their web space and they often have to edit to remain within those limits. Be assured any user-generated information is closely scrutinized by their editors to insure accuracy and relevancy. Your other alternative is to pay $2,400 for the Encylopedia Britannica, if you’ve got a PhD. EB isn’t for school children.

And EB is out of date as soon as it’s published!
Any serious Wilkipedia topic has been heavily edited and discussed — check the “Talk” and “View History” tabs on an entry.

Wikipedia is a very valuable research tool — not as a source by itself, but as a pointer to solid, reliable sources. That’s why the moderators are so insistent on citations and “no original research.” Don’t trust the information on Wikipedia by itself, but check out the references cited to back it up.
