Comic yes, but keep in mind the reality about the dog in the pound and try to do your part. Adopt an older animal, not puppies or kittens. They often have the most character, and this is from experience for 25 years and loving every one.
If only we had the Bloom County days back again, and the great characters from those days. No regrets, just reminiscing, a bad habit of the older group. Not that I am included of course!!
Oh, nice. Now Opus is responsible for the little dog. Does it even have a name? Geez. Great that BB is threatening to kill off the little bird. My adopted dog is sitting wadded up in my lap as I type this. Come on, BB, give us some hope. Or a break.
Im P.O. ed about Berke Breathe”offing” Opus yet again-it’s nearly five years for this strip-guess his contract is about up… and yeah, how could Lola be forgotten?Ialso miss Portnoy-talk about attitude!
If Opus ends there’s no doubt that it will be missed.
Berkeley has entertained us for many years and if he decides to end the strip many people will be wishing it back.
If Berkeley feels that he should end the strip then he should do so but it would not be wise if he did bring it to an end.
BB is one of the greatest cartoonists and he is following his childhood dream. He has caught his dream and held onto it for many years but I urge him not to let it slip.
you know, i’ll miss the strip if BB ends it, but the reruns are just as funny and even apply to present day human antics. thanks BB for many enjoyable years.
uggh if you are going to end just end it you mincing prima donna quit dragging it around like an old dead mongoose. Stupid teasing jerk-berke! Why can’t the stupid unfunny strips ever end like Hagar, Gasoline alley, Ziggy, Dennis the Menace, or Family Circus? Why do the good ones have to go away? Whatever, that just means less time I spend on the computer I suppose.
ForeverAllstar: Hey- give BB a break. He’s been doing this strip in one form or another since, like, the beginning of time and he’s entitled to take a bow at the end of it. Save the childish insults for the teen chatrooms, yes?
The little dog chokes me up. The last panel made me tear up and want to run out and adopt a dog. I don’t think my brood of cats would be happy with me, though.
BB has given us years of snickers… give him a break people. If he ends Opus, we still have reruns and the hope that he might restart someday. Thanks BB for years of looking forward to the Sunday paper.
Oh, say it isn’t so! Really gonna miss the little guys funny outlook on this crazy country of ours. Glad BB gave a nod to the plight of homeless pets too. I just hope it all ends on a good note.
I agree completely with Fishbulb. And yes, one of my two adopted cats is cuddled up in my laundry fresh from the dryer, and the other just walked over the keyboard. Please BB? We’re trusting you.
Opus, the little penguin with the big beak and even bigger heart who sold more than 6 million books and had 70 million readers in the phenomenally popular comic strips, Bloom County (1980-1989) and Outland (1989-1995), now graces the Sunday comics sections of nearly 200 newspapers.
Opus got his break in cartooning when he popped up in Bloom County some 20 years ago and became an instant American icon. But Bloom County and its successor, the Sunday-only Outland, had several characters and Opus wasn“t always at center stage. Now he gets his chance.

You watch – Berke will get bored in a few years and bring back Opus. Or Milo. Or maybe an adult Binkley. Who knows?

Would be sad if Opus goes away … but this last panel may be Berke’s finest opus yet …

Three rottweilers, two cats, and I agree. Make the last panel into a poster and keep the “cont.” box on it.

Ok so it is official. Opus is ending.
We all knew it was coming but when it does come it saddens you alot more.
I hope something great happens to the little guy.

I want to see Milo come back and rescue them both. I don’t remember BB drawing him in at least a decade.
