is he really doing it? is he really killing off opus/ending the strip? he’s done it before, took a break and restarted from a slightly different angle. is he doing it again? or is this really the end once and for all? does anyone know?
Ok, we’ve seen what you can do with Bloom County, etc. Why kill Opus now in the heat of the election? Can’t you give us more character development, from all of the characters, regarding the election?
I mean, who of all characters is going to say: ‘Obama is King!’ besides Opus LOL!!!!!!
This comic strip and Bloom County is,has been such a true insight of human kind it is absolutely delightful. I can only enjoy,” today” of it and the knowledge of 30 years of practice;hmmm reminds me of Clancy I.’s dedication to the Midnight Mission (Los Angeles).
It is just as well, Opus will never hold a candle to bloom county. If he wants to pull the plug on a dying vegetable that is his call. Note the bitter tone.
Opus, the little penguin with the big beak and even bigger heart who sold more than 6 million books and had 70 million readers in the phenomenally popular comic strips, Bloom County (1980-1989) and Outland (1989-1995), now graces the Sunday comics sections of nearly 200 newspapers.
Opus got his break in cartooning when he popped up in Bloom County some 20 years ago and became an instant American icon. But Bloom County and its successor, the Sunday-only Outland, had several characters and Opus wasn“t always at center stage. Now he gets his chance.

I read somewhare that his syndication contract is expiring and that he may be threatening to kill Opus to gain some leverage in negotiating a renewal.

danpetreikis: Whatever Breathed's plans may be, there's no way that even he could know whether it's forever.
