About Opus
Opus, the little penguin with the big beak and even bigger heart who sold more than 6 million books and had 70 million readers in the phenomenally popular comic strips, Bloom County (1980-1989) and Outland (1989-1995), now graces the Sunday comics sections of nearly 200 newspapers.
Opus got his break in cartooning when he popped up in Bloom County some 20 years ago and became an instant American icon. But Bloom County and its successor, the Sunday-only Outland, had several characters and Opus wasn“t always at center stage. Now he gets his chance.

The banking commissioners in New Hampshire denied the industry’s request to cap interest rates. This was a good news for payday lenders in New Hampshire. It was also a big day for President-elect Barack Obama, who was officially declared the winner of the November election and launched an effort to extend the deadline for analog-to-digital conversions for television signals. Obama’s speech on the economy has also led to some negative responses even from his fellow Democrats. They do not all appear to be on the same page with Obama’s economic stimulus plan. Some may even be getting a payday loan. Hey, but look on the bright side. Obama and Spider-man will be featured on the same comic book!
