Nope… the top of the professional food chain walk upon the backs of the front line and so-called inferiors, to dine upon the glory… or so it would seem….

For most artists, like most actors, the pay is low. Only a few get the big bucks. Some only get them post mortem.

Offer your doctor to pay cash and see how much cheaper it becomes.

Unless you’re Angelina, Tom Cruise or Oprah. But I’m not sure if they’re really artists. Just actors. :)

Yeah, last year a visit from the paramedics cost me $1500. Yikes! But at least they were there so I’m not complaining. Much.

    They are. They’re performing artists.

At least he’ll get faster service from Ruthie and James in this rerun, than in today’s strip.

Politicians once complain that celebrities and athletes are paid more than them!

There is an art to acting, not everyone is equally as good at it.

Do any doctors still work for cash? Back when I was a child we had the same family doctor for everything and as I recall, just paid him. One of my early jobs was (almost 10 years) with Zenith Corp. As a big corporation, they did everything by plans (very inefficient actually) but good for me as a young divorced mother of 4. Now that I’m on Medicare (76 next month) I finally dropped the extra BCBS plan because it covered so little and I don’t plan to use medications. I WOULD rather pay outright than keep getting letters telling me what miniscule bit they choose to pay in monthly reports (and the few things that I need – like corn treatment because I still like to wear stiletto heels or a chiro if I happen to overdo some exercise), I’d rather pay myself!

LOL! I just ran over to look at “today’s” strip and it is ALSO about doctors (and the other major problem). When I was going to a regular internist I could expect to sit waiting at least an hour with an assortment of mostly useless magazines, so I’d take my own reading material.

I now see a holistic doctor who is supervising my diet and supplements and he always sees me when it is time for my appointment. Tomorrow we will be discussing (and I’ll see for 1st time) results of my latest blood tests. I expect them to be much improved and I have been studying everything that we have been doing on various online sites as well.

It would be better if all medicine were as transparently open as most other things that we purchase.

EMS services bill the patient or their insurance provider directly.

I usually bring a crossword puzzle book (the hard kind).
