is it just me, or are they missing an ‘L’–“Cold Hand Luke”? I’ve never seen the movie, though, so I am probably wrong. ‘Cod’ just looks funny and doesn’t really make a pun–unless Cod eat eggs?!?

Aikidodog,
It’s “Cool Hand Luke”. What you think is a “d” is really an “ol”. I guess what we have here is a failure to communicate. Watch the movie …

Ruthie’s penmanship is definitely lacking.

“That Dirty Old Egg Sucking Dog” ate the eggs.
For those who care, that is a reference to a Johnny Cash song.

Ruthie is in the 1st Grade. She wrote the “l” too close to the 22nd “o” of “Cool.”
This reminds me of the spelling questions on “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?’
The contestant has to correcly spell a word and he cannot do it phonetically.
But, the acting like 5th graders who are no longer in the 4th grade in real life Classmates can misspell words which they write as answers to other category questions.
The children can write on the computer screens on their desks; but the contestant doesn’t have one of those screens on his desk.

Other famous egg-eaters:
The monitor lizard in that great film, “The Rescuers Down Under.”
The clever little mammal who ate all the T. rex eggs!
The Englishman in the P. Wodehouse story who cried out:
“Eggs! Eggs! bleeep all eggs!” Then he left England for France, so he would not have to eat any more eggs for breakfast.
Alice in Wonderland, who was therefore pronounced to be a Serpent by a local mother bird.
