The final product should be interesting. I wonder what color the sky is going to be.

If number one is yellow, what color is number two? Never mind, I don’t want to know.

    you go, girl!—
if you confine yourself to stay within the lines, then at least have the creative freedom to choose the color
    (or colour!)

One time a relative gave me a paint-by-number oil painting set.

I considered it an insult to give a person who is a gifted artist one of those things. I didn’t tell the person that.

But, since the box had pictures of how the finished work was to be look, I just painted the pictures like them as much as possible.

I took the leftover paint and painted my own creations.

The best (and costliest) artist’s oil colors are Windsor-Newton.
Unlike cheaper brands, it doesn’t contain an excess of binder at the expense of the pigment.
I did some pretty damned good–IMHO–paintings with Windsor-Newton.

Paint-by-numbers was about the extent of my artistic ability as a child, and THOSE didn’t look all that great when I was done. Needless to say, not much of a need for limited-talent PBN artists in the art world.
